The 'Taverne zum Hirschen' (Black Stag Tavern) was our first (and only) attempt to turn World Works Games TLX System into a sandwich-style form with out posts or removable walls. We really liked the textures of the Inn of the Feisty Friar, but were rather sceptical of the TLX system. As you can see – it can be done, but if you value your sanity – don't! The problem is that the TLX system walls and other parts have unusual dimensions due to the necessity of incorporating their posts to slot the walls into – hence it takes a lot of cutting and fitting to create contiguous walls. This was mostly my wife's project. Since she's the handicraft-variety of kitbasher she cut all the walls by hand – I would have done it all in GIMP beforehand, but she would have none of that. Parts used: WWG – walls and some of the floors, cupboard, iron-bound-chest, kitchen shelves, wine barrels, bar (Inn of the Feisty Friar); kitchen oven, wash basin (Deadfall); the benches on balcony are church pews (Wildwood Grove) FDG – oven on gallery, water barrel, toilet seat Kev's Lounge – tables, chairs, large kitchen shelf The stag's head is a kitbashed trophy from WWG's Shellendrak Manor set. The wooden supports underneath the balcony are my own design. If you're interested you can download them here. The tavern signs are also my own design. I wanted to have a slender cast-iron frame supporting the hanging sign. To get the same effect, simply print the signs on transparencies, fold them over and sandwich a piece of cardboard cut to the exact size of the wooden sign in between, before glueing the two transparency parts together – the effect looks very nice. You could also print the signs on regular cardboard and cut the whitespace out by hand, if you prefer. A sheet of signs can be found here.
