To me, it looks better than the plastic one. They both do need dirt. The plastic one would benefit from a black wash (with just a hint of brown?) to pick out the details in the white plastic--which would address the need for some dirt, if done appropriately. The paper one looks more finished, for sure.

There is a "clean" texture layer and then I will add a "dirt" layer with the weathering. Also I want to add some color variations. Red, Yellow and maybe some Green. So basically you should be able to choose the look you like I have finished (99% again) the bottom hull texturing. So now I will check details and add missing stuff and then I can start working on this dirt layer Also I will start the double size scaled up version for the 28-30mm minis! So far I have managed to split up the parts of the core part onto single pages. These will be glued together in offset layers to form the core structure part. I have used 4 layers of 300gsm paper. Once the glue has dried it is very sturdy. Only 2 layers left the core still floppy, but the 4 do the trick!

Hasbro, Revell and Bandai managers sure will be loving this. No need for them to waste money on detailed paint jobs when customers are more than happy to do it themselves

Oh dear, I am loosing track where I am posting stuff. Forgot to update here. So this is where I stand Big hull finished except for the engines. Got four engines built for the big version and have to start working on the mount pieces ...

Got the mount piece for the engines figured out. I only glued one of the old prototype engines on (didn't have more and not going to waste the good ones ) It's is designed to hold two engines of one side and you can take them off for safe and easy storage if required. Also decrypted the landing gear. It seams they are the same four legs. Just need to work in some sturdy magic. Just a flat version did not work. The model does weigh a little

Holy crap! It's been fun watching this thing come to life. Haha, thanks I still got to do the landing gear, the dirt layer (and all missing conversions to the 15mm model) but the ship is ready to fly now! LEGO minis for scale ref rear view and compared to the Revell kit. The 30mm version is 55cm/21in long!

Rebuilt the small version today with all the updated parts and got almost everything done. Only the engine mounts missing. Mama bear is watching the baby

A first test for the landing gear with mockup texture (Double layer cardboard with triangle tubes on each side for reinforcement) The feet are not glued on. The ship is just carefully placed on them and balances

For landing gear I often put paper clip wire in between the card stock.

I have settled for this solution for the landing gear. In addition to the single landing "legs" I made another bottom half that is a little wider. That way you can glue the legs to this instead of the ship model. The craft can then be placed into this landing "shoe" with the legs. That way you can use both versions (fight and landed craft) properly. The landing shoe can also be enhanced with interior for gaming. I wont have time to make that before release but I think modders could have some fun time with option Untextured version for now. The legs will look better like the other prototype on the left. Belly up view Solo landing shoe

Nice concept -- a landing gear/display stand! Very nice concept. I'm looking at some of my Sci Fi models and aircraft and thinking about how they could have been modded like this.
No, I'll have to look later. Back to work for me.
