The theme for this month's HOARD is Christmas Wars This can be any sort of miniature figure or model on the above theme or feel free to submit miniatures off theme. If you submit a figure, they must include both front and rear art, have a proper trimming outline, and include instructions for multi-part models. Recolors and figure mods are encouraged, and even uncolored designs are welcome. No nudity or sexuality, but bloody gory and horrifying is encouraged. If you have questions about how to design your entries, like formats, resolution, and stuff like that, see the HOARD GUIDELINES in this forum category. Entries for the Hoard will be accepted until the last day of November, 2016. Ho, ho, ho! Christmas, Yule, Winter. Maybe I can get some of my blank templates and call them 'winter scenes'

Early Christmas present warrior; ROBERTARoberta is a veteran Martian Marine wearing an older model Mark3 Goliath Force Recon powered armor. Her suit is a bit outdated and dinged up but she is reluctant to trade up to a newer model as itβs hard for her to find armor that fits. -the Expanse, book 2I also included the original powered armor head for this mod done up in her colors and textures so you can cut and paste that variant on if you like.

In the spirit of projects that never seem to be finished, I did do some Gimp work and got the wheels more 3d and undercarriages. I'm not happy with a lot about the build of the truck, mainly long parts that can introduce a lot of skew. It's always nicer if the wheels touch the ground

I spent my extra hour last night working on another project for this theme. Hopefully I can get it built this afternoon. If it comes out as I imagine, I think you will like it.
The only thing is ... I don't think most people here like 'rolled' parts. I might have to do a tutorial on rolling cardstock

Okay, I just wanted to see if I could do this, and knew I would need to dress it up and see what geometry needed tweaking, but I think it proves the concept You gotta have a pole, right? Knew I would need to do extra adornment at the top and around the base. Didn't realize that I'd messed up the diameters of the two base circles. Oops. I'm thinking of doing some sort of yellow/gold edging on the base and putting a gold star or something on top of the dome. Any ideas?

And yes, I checked my original 'hockey puck' that I based the base off of, and I somehow made the top and bottom faces too large. Fixed now.
So, no ideas on pole adornments?
I thought about having a weather vain on the top with an 'S' on all four directions...

I thought about having a weather vain on the top with an 'S' on all four directions... That's cute. It would take folks a minute to figure out, which is always fun.

How about just a big old wreath halfway up and a big golden star on top?

I like the weather vane idea. It could have a wreath and a star on it too.
I have only big ideas for Christmas projects and no time this month to do them so I don't think I will be contributing. :/

I would like to do the weather vane, but I think it might be fiddly. Possibly have it as an option. Or how about a wind sock?

I was looking at grendelsmother64's jolly boat today. I was thinking the mast rings might be a good way of mounting the windsock

I'm getting there. Putting santa hats and candy canes on other people's work takes a while...

Down with a bug and haven't felt like doing much, especially since my base red truck disappeared. But I found it tonight and put it in a better location. Started on putting it into a cutter-friendly format, and figured I might as well knock the North pole out. Anyone want to do a test build? The pole slides into the base and is glued. I put a gold disk between the pole and the green cap and gold trim around the top of the base. And a clip-art gold star for on top. I doubt I'll get to it until next week, but if anyone wants to have a go at it .... EDIT -- working on it tonight. So far so good

This is from a paid set, so if adding this to the November Forum Hoard isn't cool, I will take it down. But if it is cool, I will do the wolf form with the hat too

Sandwich a piece of wire in between the two sides of the star and poke it into the top of the green dome cap before gluing. I'm satisfied, though the weather vane would have been fun

Well, I'd hoped someone would come up with an elf carting an antique Anheuser Busch case, but I thought I'd look through clip art and see if I could find something that I could modify. Not helpful, but a lot of fun

So, I got him done and even snapped a picture but he is more complicated than I wanted and there are a few changes I would make even if I was going to stick with this basic design. I think I will let this go, maybe share the re-design in January's Hoard. Here is a pic, if someone is interested I can share the png and do up some instructions.

I'm in the same boat with the Holiday Bud Truck. The problem is the hood. I keep extending the sides of the hood and they don't abut well with the grill. I should be able to finish it tonight though
Extension?
