Okay, this was a project that goes back a ways. Meant to do it a couple years ago, and then during Ashbrooke-Stein, I designed one to use as the basis for my steam coach. cardboard-warriors.proboards.com/post/83835/threadWhile buildable, and looked good, it was a lot more fiddly than it should be, and was too big, and had obnoxious white areas. So I shrank it and combined the cabin and underframe, also adjusted the size of the seats and the rooftop box at the back to be more suitable. The little guys aren't little enough. So I'll fix that. I think I shrank everything on the page except the guys somehow. But that's why we do test builds I'll keep my eye out for anything else that needs adjusting EDIT-- The final model

This looks great and it even looks like a straight forward build. I would never try to do the spokes like you do, though. Nice work.

Carriages are like cars -- they always look better with nice wheels
For those who don't want to cut out spokes, I have a question about the space between the spokes. Should I make it black at the top of the rear wheels and dark gray at the bottom, or all dark gray? The front one could be dark gray in all the spaces and still look all right.

Could we create the illusion of movement with a blurry view of the carriage on the top half and a blurry ground texture on the bottom? When I did my chariots the wheels were just part of the body and I showed either the chariot or the ground through the spokes. Edit: Of course, by "we" I mean "you."

possibly, but it's kinda hard to do blurry black

Got some time at lunch. Ah, the importance of test builds. Remember the Jurassic Park jeep for Zoe's Christmas last year? It was obvious he never did a test build. Funny thing, this back panel is short by about the same percent as that guy's jeep.

I figured out where the sizing issues got in there. Undercarriage ends weren't widened. Razzum frazzum. Gonna work on this after morning errands

While I was fixing this and coloring in the spaces on the wheels, I also worked on two other projects. Here's where this is at I probably won't finish it tonight, but should finish tomorrow, and see how the new parts work

Definitely won't be complete tonight, because I now have extra pieces extra set of axles, along with the colored in wheels, which will let me see how they look. extra set of rims and hubs for the wheels I've already done. so, it's all good.

I need to stop looking up pre-1900 buildings, and get this done

Building it at this size, and with the modification I did that I thought would simplify the hitch, only proves that I need to revise the hitch I think the wheels without being cut out look pretty good, but the hitch??? I have another idea on it. One of those things where I wonder why I didn't think of it before. <=== Crossing fingers

Oops, when I re-worked the second page to print the revised parts to fix my build, I forgot to delete the extra back undercarriage panel.
I won't lie, the lamps and benches are fiddly, but buildable. Changing the hitch tabs makes that much more buildable.
And, I think that not cutting out the spokes still yields a good looking model. Let me know if you have any questions

Speaking of fiddly Paper diorama did one at 1/35 scale,https://www.paperdiorama.com/paper-models/misc/1830-royal-mail-coach-paper-model-1-35-scale/ Looks really good, but I would have difficulty building it at 1/53. It would sure look good on the shelf
