When I started this, I was thinking of starting with gilius 's transport and modifying it into a food truck. Didn't go so well. I'm changing my approach. Make a food truck and retrofit the transport parts to fit. Made the food truck, as a recolor of one that used to be available on the net from Muji. At least they supplied the geometry, and the color was tweaked before adding the necessary changes. I need to make the lanterns two-sided since I plan on having them hanging from the wings. I also plan on giving it 3-d wheels and some sort of thrusters for the wings. Don't expect much on those. You might want to leave them off

I can totally see the Hulk hurling this at someone...

Probably not when the wings are on it. Created the tail and tail art. I think this will be less of a 'retro-fit', and more design that is 'based on' At this point, I've been concentrating on design. I probably ought to do a scale check. EDIT-- Way too big. I wish I'd checked earlier, before I pulled the back end off to make room for the tail...

Scaled properly now, just a little taller than GM64's Chip Wagon, and shorter than the box truck. That allowed me to put the tail cross-piece and the back end on that page, leaving page 2 for the wings. Still need to do the 3d wheels and I think I will use Dave Winfield's support pieces between the wheels to make the body sturdier

Well, I hope to build this tomorrow night We are going to assume that the thrusters are underneath, in the big old gaping space that I'm not going to design. Crud. I just realized that I only need one set of glue tabs at the top of the tail.

Pretty nice, however, I had thought this would develop more into the direction of the noodle junk from Fifth Element than into the Spaceballs Winnebago... Ntl, this looks pretty awesome, and with this look it might just as well find use in any modern game.

Well, I did say it would have to be a quick project

BTW ... got it printed and clear-coated at lunch so I can start work on it after work.
I will need to do one step not in proper build order -- make the wheel treads so I can take photos

Well, I went ahead and did part in order. I like to get my fold-overs glued and under weight while drying. Actually, since this should build quickly, having the tread hoops done probably isn't a bad idea

Got some work done while cooking my dinner. Went ahead and glued the tail down so it could dry under weight. So now it's time to do those wheels 1) cut out treads and edge 2) wrap the outer and inner treads around something narrower than final diameter so that when they relax, they are about the right diameter 3) glue one end of the outer tread to the line on the inner tread 4) glue the other end to the inner tread piece, hard against the previously glued end 5) Repeat 6) thread onto the chassis spreader/axle to be glued between the wheel faces, then ( not shown) edge glue the treads to the wheel faces

I will have one version for the Hoard, but, I can go back to my other versions and offer them in this thread.
Maybe you just need a Ramen Truck. Maybe you need a tail-sitting ramen truck with a colossal wing on the back. Maybe you want one without the garish engines I worked on for lunch.
The one with the garish engines will be for the Hoard

Okay, I know I had something kind of odd pictured for the engines, but this is taking longer than I thought...

Dangit, this is turning into the almost three weeks of working and re-working the Ashbrooke-Stein steps.
And I'm not sure I'm happy with this design. I thought it was funky enough to go with the ratty food truck. I almost think I've spent as much time into these engines than I put in the truck, and I don't have the bottom panel worked out, but it is scaled. In my happy little dream world I thought this might get done tonight ... LOL
Oh, well, I'm just voicing frustration. I'll look at it with fresh eyes Sunday night

After building the Xevious ship, I re-scaled the Bond DB5 again. Hopefully Mr. Connery won't look too out of scale. Then I worked on some grandson photos for my mom, studied the parts and instructions on Chris's Big Boat in 15mm, and finally went back to working on the engines. They look a little plain to me, so I haven't printed off yet. I have the shape worked out and measurements double checked, but I think I need to do something on them, but I'm not sure what.

More red and white stripes?

Oh, I do believe there are enough red and white stripes already. I was thinking more like panels, or faux-cutouts to see bits of the internals on the engines EDIT-- BTW, on gilius's original transport, the wings slightly tilt down. I had thought that keeping them straight to add the engines would be good, but my cats decided to play with this thing, and I thought I'd see how it looked with an upward tilt on the wings (just flipped the wings over), and I like the look. I think the upturned wings just look right for this

I agree on the upswept wings. I feel like the white on the tail just looks like white paper, maybe those bits should be yellow too?

I put the white in to break up all that yellow, and to brighten it up a tad. Maybe I could add a bit of bare metal texture to take away from the bare paper feel.

Spent way too much time last night looking at ramen noodle packaging on the net. I want to stick with packaging colors, and white is one of the colors. I think I'm just going to have to adjust the template to still use white, but make it look more 'complete'

It keeps me out of trouble. I keep my workstation set up in my living room (just a couple of TV trays), so that I can get some done when I have a spare moment or while watching TV.
I office out of my home, which helps. Waiting for the webinar to start allowed me to get some work done on the DB5, and got more done during the webinar.
I didn't this AM, but usually I start my work computer and design computer as part of my morning routine. If something hits me on design, I can squeeze it in between calls.
If you notice, a lot of my projects are one-nighters, though I usually don't finish in one night.
Just fortunate that I can set things up like this

Tried integrating the white stripes a bit more. Here's the basic wingless noodle truck I plan to build the revised engines tonight, post photos and files ... if it works out

I think I'm just going to have to adjust the template to still use white, but make it look more 'complete' Maybe just a hint of shading on the white, in a very faint beige or super light blue, would make it clearer that the white is intentional? Or perhaps some detail--panels, or rivets or something?

I could see that. The white is stark white to avoid looking like the light grey wheels. Tinting the white would mean darkening the wheels, but that's okay. Or I could tint to match

Worked on it last night and at lunch today. Forgot that the inner intake and exhaust walls get folded in after gluing the whole together. Oops Needs to have flat wings to use these. Forget the inner walls mentioned above. Just sharpie on the back side of the parts. No, the wings aren't glued down, nor are the engines glued to the wings. I think I'll just consider it good without the engines and the wings with an upward tilt

In spite of being Universal Noodles, I still pictured this as an atmospheric craft, so I went with V-TOL type engines. I still think it looks better without the engines and with uptilted wings
