The Doctor Who Marathon got me thinking. I was thinking it has been too long since I built a papercruiser model. His first model release was a Rambler Stationwagon. Then the Impossible Astronaut comes on with Matt Smith sitting on a red Rambler stationwagon. Do I have him reclining on the hood and windshield? Or just standing next to it?

Actually, it's a 1959 Edsel Villager Wagon. Front End, back end and all are wrong for the Rambler, but I think I could use Jesse's system. Slab-sided body with a canopy that slots into the body. Found several photos from Doctor Who, and several Villagers, but the back end on some have a white oval area. On others it is red. Still others have an almost amber panel. I think the red is classier, so I'll just go with it, unless shown otherwise Although, the white tops seem to go with the white And the correct answer is Red!

Talk about a huge waste of time. I've been trying to find a large enough version of that last image. Why? License Plate. License plates are cool. I almost have a clean enough version of the right side of the car. Took the darkest part of the sky to replace the windows. Trying to get the color right, since the image above is in shadow. The trickiest part of this may be the tail lights. I have to decide on level of difficulty. The taillights will need an oval cylinder so to speak. I will be ignoring the approximately 2-inch diagonal fin, I think

There was also mention of turning grendelsmother64's Flivver into Bessie And there is also Rory's Jaguar

When I did the vintage model of the E-Type, I cleaned it up somewhat. I gave up on the Shaguar because it wasn't clean enough. Don't need it quite as clean for Rory's, but I need better stronger bolder outlines. Doesn't require much thought, just tedious, so that's what I've been up to

The original E-Type was this jpg I had done some clean up on it earlier, but this is as far as I got last night. Still have the right side and right seat back.

It is Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada. I am behind on work project (the client didn't really give enough lead time) but if I can clean up the paperwork quickly today I would like to have a go at making you a 3d cowboy to put on the hood of your car. What scale are you working at?

1/56 is what I'm going for. I'd just planned on making a couple of the Doctor poses in 2d to sit on the hood and front glass. A 3d Stetson at that scale will be challenging
BTW -- The car that BBC rented for the scene where The Doctor gives Rory the E-Type has other views on their website (whose domain is up for sale). Looks like a charcoal interior. One of the reasons I want to get the outlines cleaned up. Grey dash and seats wouldn't show well with greyish outlines

Matt Smith is 5'11.5" That makes it 30 mm to the eye line. I can re-colour that Sherlock Holmes I made for Papercuts a few years back. I really need to finish a project for my wife's birthday Oct 15. After that I may well take a shot.

Yeah, so turns out I need to get to a hardware store before I can make any more progress on my wife's present so I did this tonight. I didn't test build yet. I am thinking I'll need to cut off the head and glue the chin to the chest to get the angle on the head right. OOps. Just realised this guy will need soles for his shoes.

You made better progress than I did. I realized I botched up an area on the Edsel, so I worked on Rory's Jag, and botched it, too. I think I can go back to my enlarged version of it and not have to start from scratch. So, I built the Halloween Harvest tree and the WWG Sentinel instead

Saw this on Ninjatoes evahakanssonracing.com/fun-stuff/Not a good model, but can't help but think the back end of the cycle reminds me of the taillights of the Edsel. Also, something I thought I could use were the engines of Pierre Fontaine's One-Man Transport (took forever to find the actual source for this model on my hard drive), web.archive.org/web/20011111093835/http://paperforge.homestead.com:80/papermodels.html. This was a model I built several times for a friend's son. My thought on the Edsel was that the curved portion could be elongated and glued to the side of the car, with the tail light glued onto the back end. I also swiped the geometry of this piece to do headlights for Bessie, with the housing shortened.
