First off, I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday, no matter how you spend it. I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Also, I'd love to learn what people would like to see (paper mini and terrain-wise) in 2018. There are many things I am working on and need to finish, but it's also nice to hear from people and see what they need or are passionate about.
There are many things I am working on and need to finish...
As one of those eagerly awaiting some of those pending "things", I should probably pretend reluctance at adding more potential items to the list. But you did ask, so...
* Minis: How about some Saxons, Normans or even Picts to go with your Vikings, David? And suitable water-craft for all, naturally! And maybe even some brochs for the Picts.
* Terrain: I'm tempted to say "anything but yet more pseudo-medieval European buildings", given this concept has been so far done to death it's in danger of rising as the undead. Undead Buildings - well, there's an idea for you, on vaguely Dread Gazebo lines...
More seriously, there are many earthly cultures that remain virtually untouched by paper terrain building models - such as the Indus Civilisation, and the contemporary Sumerian one in the Tigris-Euphrates valley, for example, along with those in ancient southern and meso-America, any of which (ideally with sets of minis to fit with them) would be especially appealing to me.
I'd also love to see a 3D papercraft burial mound with a full interior of 3D tomb options, all in a matching style.
OK... There will be a Radical Kids set out this week. This will be followed by some bibs and bobs dedicated to the fantastic people on Patreon that have been sticking with the whole changes, no changes, and delays and all that stuff. Mostly I will be putting out some beta versions of upcoming books as a thank you (to be followed by the complete book once it's done). Then... Work continues on the Darkfast RPG, The Starship Adventures Season One book and the Hillbilly set of paper minis. Once 2018 comes around I am looking to release the Darkfast RPG, the Starship Adventures book and some Darkfast Dungeons characters.
For the end of the first month of 2018 the plan is to work on the two Gear books for Save the Day, Bugbear's Crown (rpg adventure), The Sinister Suburbs releases (Papercraft buildings), and the Steampunk supplement for DFD. This will be followed by a Contraption RPG using the White Box Engine. Most of these are just about done. I just need to spend time on them.
woosh: also, where can i find cool ships and mechs? im looking particularly for any spider tanks or spider mechs. ive seen the site with all the mechwarrior papercrafts and ive made a couple of those but none of them are especially spider-like

oldschooldm: Yup. More power to anyone who tries it. It will only whet the appetite for people who want paper minis that were designed to be paper minis. :-) Fronts and Backs FOREVER! :-) [... it's bait, don't bite it! ... ]

cowboyleland: Now I have seen it. It doesn't advance our hobby, but anyone with half a brain who wanted 2nd rate figures could easily figure this out for themselves so I guess he isn't doing any harm.

berneart76: well, this is fun, (not) transferring all my papercrafting sets into the cloud. The stuff I got from DriveTrhruRPG was simple with their library desktop app,but my other stuff, sometimes with multiple duplicate copies is entertaining.

berneart76: Vermin King I usually use a mix of drybrush/watercolor/photocopy and occasionally posterizing at different levels of opacity.

berneart76: Vermin King, that's similar to the enhancing that I do on my texturing. I've found that sometimes I need to scale up or scale down the image (usually by 50 or 25 percent down or 200 or 300 percent up) to make get the enhancements to look "right"
Feb 26, 2019 20:44:53 GMT -9
Vermin King: On the zebras, I did multiple enhancements and cartoon filters and used them at 100%, and they still didn't look that different than the photos
Feb 26, 2019 12:27:26 GMT -9
Vermin King: When I make a figure or terrain piece based on a photo, I clean it up and align things to look 'right', then I create another layer and do enhancing and cartoonizing on it. I then adjust opacity over the photo image until it looks good. On the zebras,

Vermin King: berneart76, do you mean giving them green or purple manes and tails? and a few piercings? maybe a cig hanging out of their mouths?
