Just wanted to post this here since I'm calling it done. A unit of Goblin warriors I made as a proof of concept for my upcoming paper armies project. This community has been a great resource. I have learned so much already. You guys are great! If you're interested, you can see the progression in my post on the 'Gallery'. If anyone makes these guys I'd love to see photos!

Somehow managed to miss the WIP thread for these. Very nice figures! Maybe a little more animation in the arm poses would help, and a strap through the hand to attach to the shield - or one on the back of the shield itself. But so nice to see some goblins that AREN'T green for once

Professionally done minis. I don't know how they look after printed but they are not very clear to me.

wyvern Thank you! I have thought about perhaps adding another arm variation to my next set of models, but as Papercraft Warrior pointed out they were designed to be somewhat poseable. The shield strap is a good idea. I will post pictures soon showcasing a full unit all ranked up. I know I said I was calling this one done but...I decided I'd have to make command group to really round the set out. I think having that element of height and a little extra detail in the front row will be worth it.

creyates: I think you're exactly right to add a command group; it just add a little extra zest to any wargame force. With the more irregular troops, it's also nice to have other options to add for additional variety - like a slinger or an archer or two in a hand-weapons or spears unit say. I must admit, I've swung wildly among ideas for goblins, and have run them over the decades as variously being between the craven, cowardly orc-minuses that a lot of fantasy games seem to prefer for them, through to them having the most advanced civilization of any of the humanoids, dressed, armed and acting like Earth's Ancient Romans (I used 20mm-scale plastic Romans to still preserve the size differential against 25mm/28mm cast minis).

wyvern I've also had a hard time pinning down what it means exactly to be goblin haha. They've gotta be my favorite creatures to draw, and play. I'm reluctant to solidify their look and feel in my own work. I think that's why focusing on culture and environment rather than racial traits is the way to go if you want to hold onto some freedom. I do like the idea that they were initially created as servants to the more malevolent gods. Of course that didn't pan out the way they intended. I've been working on getting everything together for my Patreon Launch (hopefully tomorrow!). The command group has been ready for a little while now. I'm just holding off on posting until I have a photo of a unit at full strength, and the formatting and branding done on my page layouts. I like the idea of having some extra variety in the form of "character" troops. I think I will implement this in my next set. Oh and that 20mm Romans idea sounds so great! Nice one
