Battle Ball is a great game. Seeing your custom teams makes me want to dig it out and play again.
Any plans on sharing the files for those teams?

I scanned the art and put them in a Word document to print in black and white and hand-colored with permanent markers.

Very nice hand coloring. I'm sure folks would like scans of the color ones, but black and white is also welcome

Awesome I really love the Dours and the Dimensionauts. The poses of your figures are very dynamic.

Awesome I really love the Dours and the Dimensionauts. The poses of your figures are very dynamic. Thanks, Okoto. With the Dours I'm riffing on Blade Runner's Pris and J.F. Sebastian's homemade toys. The Fairynauts/Dimensionauts have a symbiotic relationship with the 'face hugger' thing attached to their back. I didn't realize it at the time, but I was subconciously riffing on Arcturus Rann and the Micronauts. They're not very Battleball-ish teams in a football gear sense, but rather something I just wanted to draw. Here are larger images of the teams: anonemouse.deviantart.com/gallery/62356395/Paper-Miniaturesanonemouse.deviantart.com/gallery/

I like to draw and play boardgames, so only within the last year or so did I realize I could draw my own paper miniatures. Last year was a rough one and on weekends I found myself out around local parks and piers drawing in my sketchbook in my truck while listening to classical music. It was very therapeutic for me. Here's a walk-through of my newest sketchbook with the last four teams I was working on during the Winter Break: I'm looking at the work you all do here and it's amazing. I used to have Photoshop and I tried to learn Gimp, but I just can't seem to stick with the trial and error process, but I'm getting inspired. Such a cool forum to join.

Very nice hand coloring. I'm sure folks would like scans of the color ones, but black and white is also welcome Vermin King, I've scanned one team, Kids Corps, in two formats: PDF and JPEG. I'm not sure how to upload a PDF, but here are the two JPEG images. For printing purposes, could I scan a team on 11" x 17" or should I adhere to a 8.5"x 11" format for easier printing? (I'd like to contribute to this site and if anyone's interested, should I scan and upload the other teams?)

Thanks. Do you have mirrored backs?
Question -- When scanning, do you have an option to save as 'png'? It yields a better scan that way.
As for as uploading pdf's, if you use Reply button instead of Quick Reply box, you will have an option to upload attachments.
I think for most of us, images are fine

I think for most of us, images are fine I don't have mirrored backs, but now that I am a member of this forum, I've learned the preference is for paper miniatures with mirrored or back views. I can learn how to do mirrored backs for the Battleball teams, but I'll need to learn how create files that anyone could print out and have an already scaled mini ready to go. (Currently, I work in Paint, Word, and Publisher) The copier/scanner here at work does not offer PNG, but I can increase the DPI. Ah, now I see the attachment button. Sorry for my noob-ness and bumbling about, but thank you for the assistance, Vermin King. Battleball League 1 - Kids Corps 001.pdf (224.4 KB) Battleball League 1 - Kids Corps 002.pdf (128.02 KB)

Hey, thanks guys. The second set of Interstellar Golden Arms are now complete, scanned and provided as a JPEG image. (Wish I had originally planned these teams with a mirrored or back side, but they were always for personal use and it wasn't a big concern for myself.)

Hey, H_E_H . Thanks for sharing your BattleBall minis with the forum. They're great as they are, but as you've picked up from browsing around the forum, there is a strong preference for miniatures with "real" back views. I'd go so far as to say that the quality of your artwork is plenty good to sell for money on DriveThruPRG.com and RPGnow.com, if you were able to provide back views and format them on letter-sized or A4 sheets for easy printing and assembly. Many of your teams would have uses outside of BattleBall, in other Fantasy and Science Fiction roleplaying games. A good model for how minis should be formatted for publication is any recent Forum Hoard, all of which are available for free download courtesy of onemonk.com. You might also check out okumarts free Basic Adventurers set at DriveThruRPG; don't worry about using layers to provide optional colors the way Okum does--just pay attention to how he lays out the minis on the page, with 4x20mm black bases, and front and back views joined at the fold line between the bases. You should download GIMP, the free, open-source alternative to Photoshop. It's the graphics program I use almost every day. While it's not quite as user-friendly as Photoshop (there's a sentence you don't hear often!), it does almost everything Photoshop does, it's safe, reliable, and once again, free. Very importantly, GIMP is capable of easily exporting to a single-layer, single-page PDF file which can be viewed and printed using Adobe Reader. There are lots of YouTube tutorials on how to use GIMP. I've even got a couple of tutorials on my blog, printandplaygamer.com, about using GIMP to format miniatures for printing, which might be useful to you. If it will help you to see how your minis might look formatted in the style I'm recommending, pick one of your teams and draw back views of them. I'll be happy to format a sheet of them for you, and output it as a PDF to share through the Cardboard Warriors forum. If you're interested, send me a personal message through the forum message system, or email me at printandplaygamer(at)gmail.com. I look forward to seeing more of your work!

Many of your teams would have uses outside of BattleBall, in other Fantasy and Science Fiction roleplaying games. Noted, Thanks jeffgeorge. I didn't have plans to do back views for my miniatures other than a double-side view of the front. It's a level of time and commitment I just don't want to commit to at this point. My love lies in drawing. Perhaps this summer, I'll have more available time to do back views.A good model for how minis should be formatted for publication is any recent Forum Hoard, all of which are available for free download courtesy of onemonk.com. At one time I owned a scanner and PS, but no longer access to them except for a scanner at work. I've downloaded GIMP before, but have not given it the time to learn basics of the program. I'd actually prefer to spend less time on a device and more time drawing. I think my eyesight is going from years of staring a screen.
If it will help you to see how your minis might look formatted in the style I'm recommending, pick one of your teams and draw back views of them. I've actually considered hiring folks to format and color my art for me for use a paper miniatures. Until I have vasts amounts of free time to devote, I cannot justify me committing more time to 'computering' when what I really want to do is just draw and ink.
I look forward to seeing more of your work! In that regard, should I stop posting my paper miniatures in their form (b&w, hand-colored, one-sided, etc.) here? I like sharing images, and the inspiring, creative process I've found here so far.
