That's another reason I like OBS and ecardmodels, because even if one doesn't earn as much per design, the designs stay available. If a designer realizes that his business is failing or his/her site can't be maintained, I wish they would consider these options. As much as I appreciate Christopher Roe's models being available free, I wish he would have considered OBS. If he were still earning money from his models, he might still be designing models. Tommygun gave permission for anyone who wanted to post his models (with due credit to him, of course). We still need to revisit that. It is amazing how many models are no longer available

Tommygun gave permission for anyone who wanted to post his models (with due credit to him, of course). We still need to revisit that. It is amazing how many models are no longer available Hey there! I made the stuff free because there’s also a time cost to selling stuff. Customer support, bookkeeping, and stuff like that. OBS takes a 30% slice of the gross, about 25% of the rest goes to taxes, and what’s left means I’d be essentially working for a fraction of minimum wage, so it’s hard to justify spending a ton of time on it. That’s not necessarily a bad thing for a side hustle (PIZZA MONEY, YEAH BABY!), but I have a full time programming job that eats up almost all of my time, and what time I have left over is...pretty precious. I have to be selective about what I do in that remaining time. Main constraints: I don’t want to get burnt out on my day job, and I don’t want to neglect my wife and cats by working 1.5-2 jobs. Making the archived stuff free lets people still enjoy the models and frees me up from having to deal with the business aspects, so it’s a win-win all around, but...yeah, I get what you mean. It’s not really the optimal solution. I miss papercraft and I still want to get back into it. I just haven’t figured out how to fully separate it from my day job yet. Like, I don’t want to do it in the same office, I don’t want to use the same equipment, and I want to do most of it in the same room with my wife while she’s watching TV, on her laptop. or playing games on her tablet. I’m about halfway there because my personal Mac is out in the dining room where we have his/hers computer desks, but there’s a bunch of little things that still need working out to make it feasible. I’ll figure it out.

Glad to hear it. You have a really nice fan base, you know.
How's that work thing treating you these days?
