I'd love to get a set of the Legion Etrangere done in Patrick Crusiau's rather cartoony style, to match a set of Arabs I have that were done either by Patrick, or by someone in a really good imitation of his style.
Any help? I would pay a commission for a nice set.

I feel like I have seen some blue coats with Tepi Blanc somewhere. Look up "Space 1889" maybe?

I think those were the ones I was thinking of, but I guess I didn't remember them well.

Those are great...if they had backs, I'd pay money for them, even if I had to adapt them to print flat, instead of in A-frame format. Unfortunately, since they don't have backs, they'll never make it to the top of my growing "stuff I still need to print and assemble" list.

Thanks. Those British cavalry and Naval Brigade / Shore Parties are very helpful. I also found these guys, (along with some Askaris) who make fine looking Foreign Legionnaires. Even the officers with their wonky headgear are nice, when you consider that the FFL could be a pretty scruffy outfit -tough, extremely capable, and utterly ruthless- but still scruffy. That's funny, I initially modded those Askari's from Patrick's savage elf bits to be Martian auxiliaries for Space 1889.

TINTIN AND THE FRENCH FOREIGN LEGION monlegionnaire.wordpress.com/2013/01/02/foreign-legion-fort-in-adventures-of-tintin/I have wanted to do a game like this for a long time. Tintin and his pals, from Captain Haddock to Snowy, would be easy, as youcould just mod Herge's drawings -for personal use, of course- and I have Patrick's Arabs and some Bedouins from OneMonk, which pretty well fills things out. I also think Tintin is something of a natural fit for Space 1889 style gaming (though he's the wrong century, barely, and not really quite so sci-fi, the feel is just right somehow). For this, I could use any of the various Victorian Science Fiction sets out there (being big Patrick Crusiau fan, his 'Savage Elves' and 'Red Swamp' sets immediately come to mind) as aliens to fight La Legion Etrangere on Venus, Mercury, Phobos, Titan, or wherever. However, I'd like to get a few additional Legion figures to make it look good. Yes, I know Tintin is Belgian, but because of the movie and one or two of the TV episodes, he often gets associated with the French Foreign Legion. Also some Meharistes (Arab auxiliaries serving with the Legion). Anyway, what I'd really like, if any of our talented artistes is up to the challenge, is a mounted Legionnaire (they were famous for riding mules, and were considered excellent cavalry scouts). For my dream ticket, I'd love to get valiant Beau and John Geste, brave but brutal Sergeant Markoff, cwardly and scheming Rasinoff, loyal and clueless Hank, and Major de Beauholais, who seems to be in the movie because they needed a French officer named after a bottle of wine. Anybody interested?

I'd love to see some really corny stuff as well, if the Legion of Lost Souls becomes a 2022 forum hoard.
For example, Patrick's mechanical man steam walker wearing the kepi blanc. A shoggoth wearing a kepi blanc.
And, of course we know that, on Sir Terry Pratchett's disc world, when Death went through a period of depression, he joined the Klatchian Foreign Legion for awhile, so he could forget.
Gotta have Death in the kepi blanc!

Didn't know it was you who did those Legionnaires squrmydad. There's the problem solved of who to credit.
Out of curiosity, I know those are supposed to he the Portuguese Expeditionary Force in Mozambique, but they are definitely close enough to the French Foreign Legion that they work, and very nice pieces (besides ho cares about the slouch hat officers? Maybe some American or Australian cowboys joined the Legion?)
But anyway, that force is much more obscure than the French Foreign Legion. Curious why you did them as a theme? And did you ever do the opposing forces?

By the way, the Legionnaire with the horns and the tentacle in place of his left arm is none other than cowboyleland's excellent take on Wilbur Whateley, who I informed him had enlisted in the French Foreign Legion.
A true Anerican icon, and spawn of Yog-Sothoth!

Actually, Shadowolf did the Legionnaires, I modded some of Gwindel's elves to be Hill Martian Askari for Space 1889, and someone else modded them to look more human.

See if you can pick out Gary Cooper and Telly Savalas! Somehow Gary Cooper and the obligatory "Woman in disguise as a man" didn't make it earlier. Here they are.
