I just bought it, they look pretty good. A few thoughts; -With this much content you should be charging $3.00, not just $1.00. -Your construction instructions at the beginning of the document don't match the current style of paper miniatures, consider revising. -I like that you included the square and round bases in the document. Consider losing all of the white space around the square bases so it's just a grid. It'll make it a lot easier/faster to cut out and creates the option of having a long stand of connected bases, some mass battle games use basing formats like that. HOTT

I've seen games of HOTT in larger scales, I just pulled it as an example of group basing. Mantic's "Kings of War" game, the basic rules are free at their site, also uses large regiment style bases and the figures are not removed individually from the large group.

I know kings of war but i never palyed it... i know that it s a better warhammer fantasy 7th edition.... but i m not a fan of regiments on square bases.... i have to say that i hate rulers and maneuvers... do you play HOTT ? I readed that it s perfect for customized armies and for fantasy do what you want.... what game sistem do you use to play? ^^

I haven't used any other published tabletop wargame rules than HOTT in years. Although designed for fantasy or mythological wargames, they work just as well for the early ancient historical period, where we often have too little information to make historically-based decisions about army compositions, tactics and so forth. One great advantage with HOTT is that the game takes place in a relatively small area - 24 inches/60 centimetres on a side for 15mm and smaller figures, or 36 inches/90 cm square for 25mm and larger minis - and quite small forces. The standard battle takes place between forces that each comprise between 10 and 15 element stands, each of which can have from 1-4 minis on it (rarely up to 8 minis for the lowest-grade troops). So that means you can try out different opponents and tactics with relatively little effort. Paper minis of course are great for this. And yes, the rules cover both 15mm and 25mm/28mm scale minis as standard, along with 6mm minis.

Antohammer: I think rather than rely on my comments or recommendations, you should read through the online reviews of HOTT to decide if it's for you or not. The BoardGameGeek link squirmydad provided at the end of his Nov 28 posting above has enough information to advise you better. Yes, HOTT does rely on using rectangular bases to mount the minis on, though the depth size can be varied to better fit the minis if necessary. The frontage sizes are important for the game system, however. The main problem you'll have is that, sadly, the rules are out of print and have been for some time, and there's no PDF version available for download currently either.
