So I have some OK experience making cutfiles for things like card tuck boxes that I make for board games. I have some questions about registration marks and the trace tool. For registration marks, I am always setting the Inset to be as small as possible so I have more room for the cutting area. However, I have never changed the Length or Thickness. What do the experts recommend for these settings? I have a Cameo if that matters. Also, there is a crosshatch over parts of the registration marks. What exactly is that? Should I avoid putting my image/cutting in those areas also? For the trace tool, it seems to work way better in the latest version of Silhouette Studio. I can now set cut marks for circles and odd shapes way easier (after putting a small black outline around the image in GIMP). But, I was wondering if anyone had tips about using it on things like between the legs of figures. I really just want it to select the area around the white part and cut that but it also makes a rectangle the same size as the trace box. I will add a picture to show what I mean. Is there a way to delete the rectangle and other cut marks I do not want? I can't seem to figure it out if there is. Help me Cardboard Warriors forum. You are my only hope.

Many of us abandoned the auto-trace function a long time ago and switched to hand tracing. We wish you the very best in figuring it out and sharing what you've learned. :-)
Maybe someone else here has had some greater success.

I've actually been doing them all by hand but tried the trace tool on some circles and it actually worked really well. I'll report back if I find anything.
