Well, maybe I should stick to monsters. This seems to have come out much better than the palace guards. Even with all of the experimentation. I tried to make him look like a living Ice sculpture. He is lighter overall so he should print better. I wanted to make his clothing under the armor look like black leather, but I was afraid to bring the contrast too high or else he would not print so well. Has anyone experimented with this?

You can go fairly dark on certain parts if you highlight the edges. I try not to shade to black ,except were you want to make things look dirty, or are actually shading grey.
Figure looks cool, but I am going to harp on you about doing the flat feet. I'm telling you, just draw a straight line across the bottom of the feet. HARP! JIM

I thought it would work with a slightly squiggly but level line for the feet. I guess flat basing requires perfectly flat feet. I'll get it right sooner or later.

Great work... I love the size of his head... The coloring and highlighting is especially nice...

You do draw some kick-arse monsters, sir. ;D
I do agree with Jim, but it's not just the base of the feet to consider; I notice that we're actually looking partially at the tops of his feet, as if we're looking down on them. You need to completely forget your rules of perspective for these things, and draw everything as if each part is being viewed directly from the front.

Thanks for the tip, Aestelon. I drew a lot of these ages ago and have been digitally corecting the feet as I go. Maybe I need to reconsider just redrawing a set of feet for every figure in the set.

I thought you were creating them fresh. I wouldn't worry overly much about the feet, not at least until you start messing around with new designs. Your figures look great, just continue doing however you want. JIM

Yeah, don't worry about the feet with these figs... They work just fine. Spend the time you would have used making new feet by making new figs! onemonkeybeau

Jabbro,
I printed this guy out tonight as well, I noticed the base tabs are shorter than they should be (actually, smaller all around).
Also, how tall should he be? As he stands right now he comes up to the shoulder of the elf.
He prints beautifully though!

I think Photobucket is resizing these on me. I'll see what I can do. That is actually a 25mm base under him, so he should be huge in comparison.

That was it, it was shrinking to conform to screen size. I switched it over to compress to 1MB and since the file is under that it comes through at full size. Whew. Makes me wonder what other abnormally tall folks got squished. You should be able to grab him again from the top and print him at actual pixels. I downloaded and compared it to the original. Sorry about that.

Photoshop did most of the work. Matter of fact I need to get back into the mode of studying all the tricks you can do with it.

The best way for me to do this is to find some need such as wanting to create fire, fur, or some other special effect, and then go find a tutorial to try just for that one use. If it works well, I keep it in my bookmarks.
