Retro-fitted it with half wheels to go behind the outside wheels, for those that choose to have 3d wheels Based off squirmydad's half wheels from the Recon II model EDIT-- And tabs where definitely appropriate. I'm still keeping an open mind on the ones underneath I noticed this on a Mustang, too, but on the sides you have the vertical part of the windshield frame, but on the front, the windshield doesn't go to the edge. I'll just have to see how it looks and adjust after the test build

I love the Pinto. I doubt, though, that Pete would advertise their crimebusters bureau on his car (of which he had a few over their crimebusting teen years... at least in the over 200 books that we have here in Germany). Btw., Bob drives an oldschool VW Beetle in yellow...

Okay, back to the plain yellow Still have to finish building this one. BTW, other than the 'Tab A' tab-and-slots, all the other tabs need to be gone

I was building this little guy over lunch, and my thoughts of losing the tab-and-slots is correct. Additional tabs are needed to retain the proper shape.
I'll finish up the plain yellow Pinto tonight and recolor the EZ-Bild Beetle to yellow for Bob. I know it builds well, so it will go quick. I might make it a shade larger, but not by much.

I'll finish up the plain yellow Pinto tonight and recolor the EZ-Bild Beetle to yellow for Bob. I know it builds well, so it will go quick. I might make it a shade larger, but not by much. EDIT -- Even though this started as the 'official' Ford Pinto papercraft, it totally misses the mark. I've mentioned before that fewer parts is not necessarily a good thing. This started out as a one-part model. And it is nearly impossible to come out with anything presentable 'as designed'. I've already fixed a lot of the asymmetric problems. Losing those tab-slots helps, but it hardly looks like a Pinto (and not in a good way). I'm not going to mess with the hood needing recessed between the headlights, but the roof really needs to be narrower. As it is, it looks more like a Chevette than a Pinto. You may be wondering why I am spending this much time on a Pinto anyway. This goes back to a project started by Dave Winfield (AirDave), in which he was going to use the Gregorz Rutka Blues Brothers cars ( web.archive.org/web/20070209130759/http://www.darringer.com/carta/ ) to create a different diorama. He was undecided as to whether to use the Rutka cars as is or to update them. But the whole thing got derailed when he mentioned that he wanted to do an homage to near the end of the movie and have the Good Ol' Boys RV and the neo-Nazi Pinto ("I hate Illinois Nazis"). With all the backlash by even mentioning it, he shut the whole thing down. I personally have no problem with making fun of neo-Nazis at their expense, so I wanted to pick up the project. So I need an orange Pinto wagon. If I can get this stupid thing somewhat reasonable, turning it into a wagon should be fairly easy. As it is, the plain yellow Pinto work is going to have to wait. I should have Bob's Yellow Bug done tonight though EDIT II -- This explains more of how I remember Pintos, but it has been so long, I didn't know if I remembered correctly. The sides slope in from the mid-line of the side panels I thought it was something like that, but wasn't sure if the slope didn't start at the bottom of the greenhouse.

Can we extend it another day? I spent too much time working out how I would design the Pinto, and then had to do the final detail work on Bob's Beetle, and didn't get anything built... Well, since I'm the one who usually closes things out, I'm giving it another day. If I don't finish the Pinto modifications, it will just have to wait. I need to work on the LEM. Those stupid bug legs were something I knew would give me fits

In the German books and audio plays, Peter had both, an Impala (in white, if I remember correctly) and an MG (though the model was never mentioned, as far as I know, nor its color)...
Perhaps one of those is an easier build than the Pinto?

I printed and scored the Beetle last night. I'll do a build thread on it. The Pinto changes aren't difficult, just time consuming. I plan on it having sides and roof as one piece, a front end and a back/undercarriage piece. I'll post an image later today or tonight showing the changes. Yes, I will still use the Ford-issued model as the base for the textures, but with these changes, I think it will be substantially different that it can be posted. It will probably be easier to just do the changes than to post that image though. The Beetle needs to be the priority. If that's a mid-60's Impala, you could use AirDave's Supernatural Impala as a base, changing the texture to white, davesdesigns.ca/cutandfold/html/starcarz.htmlFor the MG, there's always the Moss Motors models, www.mossmotoring.com/paper-car-cut-outs/

After doing real life things tonight, I did the recolor of the Bug, but then went on a hunt for more LEM info. There has to be a good way to handle the bug legs ...
The fixing of the Pinto shape would seem to be an easy fix, but I know how these things go ... the fix causes other issues to be dealt with. I will need to hit the project with fresh eyes, definitely not tonight, though I was tempted.

The undercarriage in the original model is not correct to match the axles to the wheels. I just thought I messed up in the build. I might come back and look at it again over the weekend.

You could save the Pinto for the June Hoard... "Where No Man Has Gone Before: A Proper Papercraft Pinto!"

Pintos were following Apollo XI ...
I really hate this thing. As I said, 'the fix causes other issues'
The four-view does not line up with a true side view of the car. Extended nose and tail compared to this model and to a side photo of a real Pinto. However, the photo Pinto does not line up with the model. I did find a sample color/available packages image from Ford and those do not match the photo Pinto, the model Pinto or the four-view. If I do this, it will just be an approximation, an attempt to make it look better, not to make it 100% accurate. Probably not even 65% accurate.
Let's call this 'Closed'

Thanks. Frankly, when I see a model out there that can be done so much better (like the Pinto and Bessie), if my abilities will allow it, I feel like I have to give it a try. And I was really surprised that my Pinto came out as well as it did. I learned a lot doing it
