Hey, folks!
I'm sorry I haven't posted at all in months. I also haven't updated the printandplaygamer blog since mid-July. I haven't played a single game, or crafted much at all, since July. Real life has been totally overwhelming this year.
The first and worst event was the passing of my younger sister at the end of July. She was 52, and had health problems, but her death was unexpected and much, much too soon. She was my only sibling, my parent's only daughter, and effectively my daughter's only aunt (we have very little contact with my wife's sister, but that's another story). My parents are heartbroken, of course, and I've been so busy dealing with the legal aspects of her estate--along with everything else that's been going on--that I haven't had any time to feel much at all myself.
One of the hardest parts of the whole thing is that the home that my sister was remodeling, near my parent's house, was about 95% complete when she passed. We've been working with the contractors to complete the job the way she intended. Fortunately, a married couple who were long-time friends of my sister as well as our whole family are interested in renting the house, which means we don't have to make any hard, permanent decisions about it any time soon.
Then my dad had surgery at the beginning of October, and his recovery hasn't been totally smooth. He's going to be alright, but he's 77, and he doesn't bounce back the way he used to.
On top of everything else, I've started a new job this fall. And there's been some other, lesser inconveniences along the way, but none worth mentioning.
Bottom line is, I'm still out here, and I gradually will get back to gaming and papercrafting, and to my blog, as fall fades into winter. I've missed this community, and I've got about four months of back posts to read in order to get caught up. I look forward to getting back into the swing of things soon!
