Born Soldier Kushna’Var scanned his fist, the four Born Soldiers who served him. Only one was still checking his gear, as the others had completed their tasks and were deep into Plea’io, the pre-battle trance. A rustle showed the last sinking into his trance. None of the four would regain consciousness until their Ti’Pirus mobile fort settled to the ground. Minutes later, the pulse engines flared as Kushna’Var grounded the fort in its position guarding the Arm’s objective. A soft hum told him the force field shields were engaged, and the fort’s spirit warrior touched his mind as the fort’s sensors and weapons probed the night. With no noise his fist assumed their ready positions and scanned for enemies. As the human’s said, “Bring it on.” Finger and Toe Models announces the release of the 28mm card stock Alien Base: Mobile Fort capable of a one time movement to settle in the most advantageous position to defend objectives or reinforce a line. The Mobile Fort can hold up to eight alien soldiers. (The Finger and Toe Kot’Tel warriors would be perfect, of course). Optionally, the fort has two powerful weapons and a sensor array. Easily kitbashed, the fort can be made as a field fortification, a logistics vehicle, and used Seven inches wide inside (nine outside) and about two inches tall (not including the weapons), this is an intimidating model for any infantry. Remember, every Finger and Toe model comes with SMOOSH ASSURANCE: if ya’ll smoosh your Alien Base: Mobile Fort, a new one waits your summons from hard drive and printer. Alien Base: Mobile Fort is available from www.rpgnow.com or www.wargamevault.com for $3.00. Get it here: www.wargamevault.com/product/346628/Alien-Base-Mobile-Fort?src=hottest_filtered

The problem with chimneys on a sloped roof is they have to be purpose designed due to the varying slopes. Drives me a bit crazy, but only a bit. The way I do it is with a boolean operation in my 3D modeller. The side chimneys are much easier, and probably the best way to go to accommodate multiple roof slopes. I have to say, I really love this thread.

Caterina de Padua, Venice’s famed thief the Midnight Rose crouched silently on the roof of the Torre da Dolore. Just a few feet beneath her, two guards split a wineskin, spit on the campo below, and gossiped. Neither had any clue their quarry was just a few feet above them. Caterina grinned as she tossed a grappling hook and thin rope to the roof of the belltower only twenty feet away. With a second swift motion, she dropped a clay jar off the roof. While the guards were distracted, she slid down the rope, hopped onto the bell tower roof and scuttled out of sight. As soon as she had climbed down the second tower, she was off, jewels snugly tucked in her pouch. Venice: Towers has two basic versions: A bell tower and a watch tower. Each version comes in brick or marble textures. The watchtower roof can be removed for access to your miniatures. The entire top pops off. Both tower bodies can be folded flat after their roofs are removed, making storage easier. Both towers have a 4x4" footprint, and the bell tower is about 10" tall, while the watchtower is about twelve inches tall. Remember, every Finger and Toe model comes with SMOOSH ASSURANCE: if ya’ll smoosh your Venice: Towers, a new one waits your summons from hard drive and printer. Venice: Towers is available from www.wargamevault.com for $5.00. Get it here: www.wargamevault.com/product/343154/Venice-Towers

Caterina de Padua, Venice’s famed thief the Midnight Rose watched the Campo de San Marti from her perch atop a small church, Santa Maria de whatever–the name wasn’t important. What was important was the larger basilica style church visible beyond the campo. La chiese de Santa Marina di Laguna. She was waiting for her mentor and handler, Father Vittorio to light their special signal lamp. Then she would descend from this church’s low roof and deliver the pouch of incriminating letters she had “borrowed” from a wealthy merchant. Tomorrow night, while she luxuriated in her bath, said merchant would receive a visit from the Signori della Notte, Venice’s infamous secret police and judges. Venice: Churches has two basic versions: steep and low roof, two color schemes (brick and white stone), and can be built with or without the side aisles, giving you eight versions. The basic church has a four by nine inch footprint, while the version with side aisles is nine by nine. It’s an easy to build model and can be made collapsible simply by leaving bottom and roof unglued. Remember, every Finger and Toe model comes with SMOOSH ASSURANCE: if ya’ll smoosh your Venice: Churches, a new one waits your summons from hard drive and printer. I considered a fold flat roof, then quickly abandoned the idea. However, looking at your image, I wonder if one a connector like this would work:

Distant explosions deep in the Falinbach factory complex told Field Sergeant Eve de la Torre that B Squad had finished their task and was exiting. Showtime. Her noob scurried along the catwalk toward the platform whose console was her objective. Eve smiled at his “head on a swivel,” particularly noting he checked the overhead crane before dropping prone to provide cover fire. At a flick of her hand Tech Sergeant Gomes went next, already pulling the data jacker from its pocket on his harness. As he slammed it against the side of the console and tapped the green button, the rest of her squad quickly swarmed across the platform and down the ramp. Moments later, Gomes and the noob scurried by her and the team extracted. Mission accomplished...or so she thought. Finger and Toe Models announces the release of the 28mm card stock Industrial Sector: Platforms, perfect as a setting for your sci-fi skirmishes. The platforms are fully compatible with Finger and Toe’s Industrial Sector: Catwalks and are modular and collapsible. There are five platforms: one 3x3" and a 4x4" square, a rectangular 3x6", and two six inch octagons, one with a hole in the center. For easy access to the platforms, there’s a 2x9" ramp. The platforms come in two textures: mesh floor and diamond plate. Several props are included: a console, desks, tables, and drums. Platforms is textured to go with any Industrial Sector model, Omega Prime sci-fi interiors, the Slagtown and Refinery sets, and, of course, the sci-fi fortress line, Tango Prime. Remember, every Finger and Toe model comes with SMOOSH ASSURANCE: if ya’ll smoosh your Industrial Sector: Platforms, a new one waits your summons from hard drive and printer. Pretty much any Italian city from late medieval through modern. While they are derived from a book on Venetian Domestic Architecture I picked in in Venice, in the design process I had to simplify so I could create a set with a wide range of possibilities. One thing I did was to essentially eliminate the iconic Venetian canal side lower levels. That way all four sides could be used as street faces.

For my use, I needed this positioned lower on the buildings, so I took a lesson from the old Punch-Out books. I decided hooks that fit into slots would work better for my purpose Now that I know the concept works (the slots in the building are hardly noticeable when the bridge is removed), I am going to do a repaint with a clean stucco on one side and a rough brick and stucco on the other, using my pavers texture to have a 'slate' roof What a great idea. Now look the other way and ignore my whistling as I steal it!

In the darkness of the new moon Caterina da Padua watched the fat merchant’s house from a nearby rooftop. The family claimed descent from the fabled Polos, so tomorrow Caterina saw herself purchasing linens from Constantinople, paying from her newly filled strong box. Tonight that shipment of gem stones would be hers, penance for the sins of greed and pride. Never boast, not within Caterina’s hearing. Best of all, her victim tonight would never suspect the villain, Venice’s famed thief Midnight Rose, la signora de la notte, was their own beautiful neighbor. Venice: Merchant Prince is NOT the Venice of merchants princes or romantic gondoliers. Its buildings represent the merchant elite of the Serene Republic. Don’t think of double-dealing Doges or romantic gondoliers. Instead, smell the stench of corpse-filled canals and dodge the bodies left by thugs or disease. The core building stands over twelve inches high with roof and chimneys with a four by six inch footprint. You have a choice of three textures: raw brick, beige, or yellow. There’s a narrow balcony, an impressive entrance, stairs, and an assortment of windows for both the family and servant quarters. Pop the roof off and the building can be collapsed to save storage space. Remember, every Finger and Toe model comes with SMOOSH ASSURANCE: if ya’ll smoosh your Venice: Merchant Prince, a new one waits your summons from hard drive and printer. 'Altane' give better reference sources than 'Altana'. glennwilliams, will your series have a fairly universal roof pitch? Or set of pitches? Pretty much a gentle slope so minis will stand upright, as I'm a big fan of fantasy novels with roof hopping rogues. But not standardized as such, just similar. The merchant home set only has a pitched roof, so flat one (mostly because page count creeped upward...a lot).

Additional request for you, dear glenn: do you think it's possible to design an altana? They were pretty common alongside Venice since xvi century. Sure. The set after the merchant houses is bridges and canals and currently includes a gallery between homes, so a loggia type structure would fit perfectly. I'll have to simplify as the last time I did such a structure (on the California mission) it was a night mare to design and to build.
