Ghostgirl to the white courtesy phone!!! Fat Dragon is getting ready to release some old west building sets and I'm really looking forward to using them with the mini's you made. It'd be great if you had some time to continue the work you were doing here! Hope you find some time to come back!

Just giving this a gentle nudge to see if there's still interest in completing these. I know I for one would love to see them done.

Very Johnny Quest! In a good way of course! Excellent work. You have a nice clean style that I've been striving for in my figures. Got any tips? I couldn't put my finger on the style but Waffle nailed it - Johnny Quest! Very Awesome! I'd love to see what some fantasy figures would look like in this style... any chance you'd branch in that direction? Great Work - really like it!

Thanks in part to Jabbro, my group's last gaming session was a huge success. His Barkeep, Serving Wench, and townsfolk filled up my tavern nicely and were easy fodder for the raiding Hobgoblins!!! ;D Now I have a new need... The adventure we're playing is called "Rescue at Rivenroar". It's part of the Scales of War adventure path that WotC is publishing online in Dragon magazine. Part of this adventure is obviously... a rescue! There are six prisoners who the party needs to find and return safely. I tried making figures of them from the images printed in the PDF of the adventure, and while they will work in a pinch, I'd sure love to have some "One Monk Inspired" minis instead. If anyone's up to the challenge check out this link: those are the figures I put together quickly from the PDF. The characters are: (from left to right) Jalissa: Acolyte of Ioun Sertanian: Curator of the Great Hall of Valor - a museum in Brindol that houses artifacts from the first War of the Red Hand. He actually served as a soldier in that war years ago. Adronsius: Dwarven alchemist in Brindol Thurann: 8 year old son of Kartenix, the Guard Captain in town. (Kartenix is actually a prisoner as well, but he's already dead...) Mirtala: A cook in one of the local taverns in Brindol. She's contracted filth fever while held captive from repeated bites by dire rats. Zerriksa: A cranky, old crone from town who many people believe is a witch. She's actually an accomplished herbalist, but she enjoys playing on the rumors to intimidate people - including the Hobgoblins who are holding her captive. If anyone's up for the challenge please send me a PM and we can work out the details. Thanks, guys! ~ Buck.

Thanks for the advise, guys. Is Savage Worlds and Deadlands something I need to download online? I'll be in my FLGS this Sunday for a D&D game and might look for it.
So let me see if I get this straight... Savage Worlds is sorta like the "Engine" that drives the game and Deadlands is like the "body" that surrounds it and makes it look like a Western. If you learn Savage Worlds you could easily buy a new "body" and play the game in some other setting (including fantasy...)
Is that fairly accurate?

GhostGirl's mini's have inspired me to try out a western themed RPG so I'll have a chance to actually use them! Can anyone suggest a good one I could start with? I've never really played any RPG other than D&D.
Thanks!
~ Buck

These are great figures! Excellent work! I wish I played a western themed game so I could use them! Looking forward to seeing the "Garters" portion of this set... they might make good bar wenches for a tavern setting.

What if the wings were a little lower and to the back a bit? Maybe then the head wouldn't actually overlap them? I'm not sure how to explain it - and I WISH I had a tenth of your drawing talent so I could illustrate it! ;D
But I keep thinking about the advice Jim gave once before about having weapons stand out from the figure's body instead of being in front of it. (Like when you did your Ogres...)
Either way - it's an awesome looking dragon! ;D

Holy cow, dude! That is amazing! My only concern is that I kind of loose the head because it blends into the wing. But I'm sure a bit of highlighting or line darkening will fix this. Great, great job! I love dragons and you've got some excellent ones here! onemonkeybeau As a piece of artwork it's amazing! But I agree with Onemonkeybeau that the pose might need some adjustment to make sure the head isn't lost. If I sit a few feet back from my monitor it does kinda get lost. Excellent work as usual!!!

I love the style of your figures - these are great! As usual, I'm now going to have to figure out a way to work these little guys into one of my adventures!
Perhaps they could be eaten by Scruff's Balrog... ;D

I am horribly bad at deciding when to stop messing with a project and call it done... but I think all the experimentation i've been doing will be worth it in the end. I had been making everything in inkscape and then adding texture and extra shading in gimp but that seemed overly complicated. plus, i'm not really sure that texture even shows up on small human sized figures. I decided to cut gimp out of the process and look for a way to do more exact shading in inkscape besides gradient fills. I REALLY love the shadow and highlights that darkmook uses on his work... so i went with something similar that i think i am happy with. still sort of figuring it out... I also realized i need deadlines or i will just keep experimenting forever so i'll post those in my currently working on post. I'll try to keep to them better than Blizzard does theirs. I know that is not saying much. Don't know if it's what you were going for... but this figure is totally Emilio Estevez from Young Guns! I can just hear this guys saying, "I'll make ya' famous..." right before he shoots someone! Well Done!

Hey, that actually worked pretty cool! It took a minute for me to get my eyes to focus enough to bring the two images together, but once I did it wasn't too hard to stay focused and I definitely got the desired effect.
Nice work!

Wow - the added texture really makes that figure pop! Great work! Any chance you could re-issue the 2D version with that texture? I think this will be the version (added texture to 2D) I'll add to this months (July) hoard. If anybody would rather see a different color other than red, let me know. I'll make both a red and another color (I'm leaning towards Blue) but I will only add one of them to the Hoard. Scruff Cool! Looking forward to it!

Lovin these Ghostgirl. But the deputies left hand doesn't look right, his thumb is coming over the rifle from the wrong direction I think. I was going to say the same thing - I can't put my finger on it (no pun intended...) but something about that left hand is just "off". I'm sure one of the guys around here could pinpoint it. Otherwise, another good looking addition to your collection!

Well Jabbro, you'll be happy to know that your mini's were a huge success! The tavern fight ended up being a lot of fun! The players moved quickly to defend the bartender (Gotta keep the drinks coming...) and were extremely dismayed at the death of the serving wench! More than a couple of the commoners met an untimely death as well. Thank you again for all the time you put into the figures for this. Hopefully a lot of the other people on the board will get some use out of them as well! Here are a few photos from the session last night. Enojy! www.flickr.com/photos/7228878@N05/show/

Printing and cutting as we speak, my friend! Once again, thank you SO MUCH for taking so much time out this week to make these mini's for me. These are all going to work perfect for our game tomorrow.
I'll definitely report back ... hopefully with action photos! (if I don't forget to take my camera!!!)

Once again, Jabbro, I don' t know how to thank you! These figures all look awesome! I'll be printing and cutting out tonight along with the last of my tavern as well. (I'm using Fat Dragon's Dragonshire Interiors to make the tavern where the big fight is gonna take place!)
I love the detail on the bartender - especially the dagger in the back of his boot!
Thanks again!!!

When you get back to this little project you might want to look at recoloring the new Spider Queen that Jim made for his cavern monsters set. A Black Version of that would fit in VERY nicely with these figures.
Still anxiously (and patiently... ;D ) waiting for this set!

What would be cool (and I don't know if it's possible) would be a flash banner that actually flickered between the top colored one and the night vision one!
That would look sweet!
ETA: the more I look at it, what would look even COOLER is if in the color photo you don't see the aliens coming to attack the clueless soldiers, then when it flashes to the nightvision view you see the aliens surrounding the soldiers!
