Time flies. I found out last night that a bunch of my MMiP files were missing. And many that I had were corrupted. In between things today, I have been trying to rebuild. I don't understand why some things are corrupted, when they originally worked fine Copying from one storage to another can d it. I have lost quite a few photos when I have moved the photos between different computers as each old computer became outdated. I now keep all important stuff on a separate SDCARD and hardrrive. That way something should survive.

okumarts, Have you decided how you want to approach the stairs? From either the top or bottom. If you approach them sideways, you'll walk into the wall, or fall off...

I finally completed my Warrior-caste Droyne miniature conversion for the Traveller RPG. Here are a couple of side views, as well as a picture of the whole Droyne group for context. That's a Leader, the Warrior, and four Sports. Nice! 👍 Just before last Christmas, my mum found a box with some of my old D&D figures in. There is also some 15 mm Traveller figures: three Vargr and an Aslan. I got them when I was about 14, so about 43-years ago!

However, they are quite small jpg files and print up quite small, too small for me to cut up and build. I was able to download the images in full size resolution, by clicking the arrow below the images, on the right. I'm also member of Deviantart, so I imagine you can't download without being logged... I guess so - All I could download was images with "fullview" in the title and were about a third the size of A4 paper:

I've been mucking about trying to solve some problems with how to attach side stairs and how it would access the roof. What about making a regular set of stairs, but the top step is a bit higher than the top of the building wall and twice the width of the stair case. You then have a slit in the vertical section of the step, so that it slots over the top of the wall. I scribbled this on the bus to work about 30-minutes ago, then "tarted" it up in paint: Hope it shows what I mean.

I certainly wish that the Frohicky Eagle was arranged easier to download all the files. It wasn't that too hard to download, just had to do about nine images. However, they are quite small jpg files and print up quite small, too small for me to cut up and build. I tried scaling them up, to fit A4 paper, but each image is also a different size, so don't scale up the same amount: I think I will use it as a basis to do a vector image and then trawl the net to get things like detailed images and specs to get the size and proportions right.

Back in the day, SPACE 1999 was my favourite TV show. I got the comics, annuals, some models and even the lime-green icelolly with googey red centre. Shame it's all been lost to the ravages of time. Every September 13 th, I raise a glass to our dear departed moon. I think I'll go through the downloads section and knock up some nostalgia. Just found this: tektonten.blogspot.com/2011/08/space-1999-papercraft-eagle-transporter.html

Now what are we gonna do next? alloydog " Erm, actually, I'm working on a plastic model kit at the moment..." For now: Front to back: Stock Onager, Onager B¤stard, Rhino (completely scratch built and 99% cardboard (plus a few o-rings and a cocktail stick))

And now a teaser for the next one... When a couple of attempts go wrong, I give you the Onager B¤stard:

Since the Intimidator counterpart of this can easily have a rotating turret and elevating barrel, I am going to poke some small holes in the upper arms so that the barrel assembly can have a toothpick mounted between the parts to be the axle for this one to elevate as well. If it doesn't work, I can always glue it in place A few years back, when I made a stompie, I used wooden kebab skewers - same principle as a toothpick for smaller models. Probably teaching grandpa to suck eggs, but if you chop one of the pointy ends off, give that end a nice blob of PVA glue, then push it all the way so that if touches the wall on the other side, it will be really strong.

alloydog , only my first Onager has the back glued on. The rest are detachable. Cool! I'm thinking some sort of Eagle type transporter to carry cabins.

If the engines were where the tracks should be, the Onager would make a great jump buggy. Or arrange to be on top, but arrange for skids along the bottom[/quote] Hmmm... I'm already thinking the back part of the Onager should be detachable. Now, a jump-buggy... Nice! We're looking at a whole family of module vehicles.

For anyone keeping track of this build... While the rest of the model was "as is", I decided to embellish the running gear. I printed an extra set of track-skirts, but enlarged by about 5%. The tracks were made to be segments: The whole thing is all together now. Jut needs some of the edges tidied up: Over all, it was quite easy to build, yet still has an interesting shape. All the time I was making it, ideas were going through my head on how to tart it up. But I managed to to file them under "next time", or else it would never have been finished! Also, because I hadn't used the printer for some time, the heads had got a bit blocked. Despite running the head cleaning routine a few times, the print out has some feint banding. The last sheet, the one with the extra track and skirts on was clear of stripes. So, you know, I have to do a few more models to keep the printer running good. Right?

Even though all is not going as good as I hoped, I'm going to finish it. Uugh! After the first one didn't go too good, I restarted with a new print up, this time, regular paper and went back to my usual method. Now I have two crap looking stompie bods!! Oh well, I keep blundering on... Oh yeah, Vermin King - I got some watercolour pencils, the lighter of the two has been edged with them. Works well, thanks for the heads-up!

I add some cardboard to models I'm planning to play with, but I try to keep the glue tab. How do you glue your model? Superglue on the edges? This example wasn't very good - too much space between the edge of the corrugated card and the edge of the printed card, but I was trying a slightly different build technique. I usually cut off the glue tabs and glue the edges of the card to each other with PVA glue.

Most of the modelers I know that use them just touch the tip to their tongues and edge. I am probably too cautious, so I just keep a slightly damp folded paper towel on a soft margarine lid to moisten the tip Hmmmmmmmmm pencils...

Have you ever tried using watercolor pencils? No, but I will pick up a pack next time I mosey through town. I've used Promarkers before and didn't have any problems - but that was on either regular printer paper, or A4/A5 label paper and regular inkjet. I'll get the watercolour pencils, so all bases are covered. Thanks! 👍

Aaaagh! Been beaten to the " Ooooh! Look at me, I've started first" post... I decided on one of TopoSolitario's stompies. Intended to print out an extra copy, so to be able to add a bit of layered detail. The printer decided to go mental and spit five print-ups in total, so maybe I knock up a few extras. Right, second time lucky, maybe? Yesterday, when I tried to upload pictures, I got server error messages. I think this one has been cursed from the get-go: First off, the printer went mad and spewed out lots of copies. The next issue is that it was a laser printer and used office card - the print is too shiny for my liking and the ink tends to flake off at the folds. But here goes... I tend to find just paper/card models too flimsy for my liking, so I usually back the print-out with corrugated card. This can make folds difficult, so for this, I cut smaller panels of corrugated card to stick to the back of parts of the model: Then... when colouring the edges and folds with a promarker, the card really slurped up the ink and it spread into the printed areas: So, I coloured onto the printed areas to give an ad-hoc camo-scheme: Even though all is not going as good as I hoped, I'm going to finish it.

alloydog, is that five copies of all five pages? I've never built one of those. I will have to follow along Luckily only three pages per model, but I just counted them and have eight copies!
