A standard question that I always ask. What character drawing program do you use? Do you design them on your tablet? If so, on what equipment? Thanks for the answer.

A standard question that I always ask. What character drawing program do you use? Do you design them on your tablet? If so, on what equipment? Thanks for the answer. When I started designing paper figures first I drew it in paper with pencil and calibrated pens. Then I scanned and colored them using Photoshop and that tablet in the photo. BAMBOO (don´t know what model), A5 size. The only problem with it is that it has not pressure sensor... And to make the backarts I used this lightbox I made myself. But one year ago I bought a Cintiq 13 (interactive monitor): So now I directly sketch, ink and color the figures using it. Now I don´t use Photoshop. I bought a program called Clip Studio and work with it (quite cheap: 40€. Its licence doesn´t expire). I use it for two reasons: - My computer is a portatil, 9 years old. And with it runs really slow if Photoshop and the tablet are both ON. With Clip Studio it goes quite fast. - Clip Studio has some Ink Brushes really clean, and its Filler Cube is, in my opinion, cleaner and better than Filler Cube in Photoshop. I also use a lot Pinterest to look for inspiration, and make photos of myself in underpants to set the postures of my figures, using sometimes brooms or bottles as weapons. But sure you don´t want to see that XD

I have an identical Bamboo tablet at the moment. It's great that you wrote how you create your work.

okoto A little different question. How do you scale figures in Clip Studio?

okoto A little different question. How do you scale figures in Clip Studio? It is similar to Photoshop. Just select the object and press Ctrl + T. Then appears the selecters around the object, to scale it manually, or you have a panel (the panel in the photo) to chose a percentaje. There are also different ways of scales (surrounded too in red), it changes a little the resolution. I work in a scale 500% bigger than they will be printed, in 600 ppp. So when I prepare them to print, I reduce the figures to 20% and 400 ppp. You can try the program for free downloading it in their page. I can show you if you are interested the way I paint the figures to change easilly their colors.

Hi everybody! There is something that disturbs my mind... And I would like to know your opinion. It is about the size of my figures. I know that due to their style, they are more wide than others. And I like this, but sometimes I think they are maybe too big... I don´t know, I measure them, I compare with other paper figures and with 3D figures, but I am not clear... I am afraid they cannot fix with other figures in a tableboard... Have you printed some of them? What do you think??

Personally, I wouldn't change anything. They are just right for your style.

Keep them how you like them - each set of figures I have matches the artist's style. They can be quite different, but who cares? Unless you're playing a game that virtually demands you source your stuff from one manufacturer, then you will see on alomost any wargaming table, figures of different styles. Nothing wrong with "wide". In fact, some figures look better when wider than they technically should be: What application/programmes do you use?

Any time I need figures, I always put them on a page and adjust them to fit with each other. I usually go somewhere between 28mm and 30mm to the eye line for them, based on the figures' physical builds. Big figures bigger, smaller figures shorter. Then I usually adjust color because next to each other, some seem more bold and others washed-out. After that, I usually adjust width. I prefer my figures to have a bit of bulk. To me, 100% proper physique doesn't look right on the table. Most figures need to bulk up a little.
For those players who want everything to look like it came from the same designer, they probably do what I do. My feeling, which may be incorrect, is that most players want proxies for their player characters, etc., but they probably aren't as concerned about their games being artistically balanced.
Design what is pleasing to your eye, knowing your level of ability will improve with time, but make sure you stay true to yourself

Thanks a lot for your opinion!! Yeah, my figures are wide and I like it. But sometimes I think they are a little tall... Other times I think they are just in the perfect size , because I see them "cleaner", I see better the details... I will follow your advice and will design what is pleasing to my eye.
