I think at this point, I might just file in the 'If something comes to me...' file. I question whether anything I have come up with would substantially improve the model, without making it WAY too complicated. I think the abdomen idea would be easy enough, but I think it would look out of place if it wasn't balanced with a rounder head. Hmmm.

I think it is narrowed down to one solution on the head. Laminating a very slightly smaller head, minus the mandibles, onto the current head. laminate another piece, eyes and brow onto that. Won't really round out the head, but it will appear thicker and rounder, I think. On the abdomen, I am thinking three rounded slits. I think I have a plan to give this little fellow more depth without being a difficult build.
After I get the Skully wedge done up, I'll get to work on this and see if my idea works. Luckily my gray edging pen seems to not be dead

OK, I started playing around because I thought I had an easy way to respond to Punkrabbitt's challenge. He has since gone his own way and at this point you see to be more invested in this project than I am. Mr Vermin King , You have the conn! I am the guy who likes to flip things over lol! And it is @ punkrabbitt I just tend to change my name a lot to throw off the stalkers. cowboyleland, I want you to know that I truly appreciate you participating in my mini-challenge for this month's Hoard. That you and I came up with completely different executions of the same idea makes me immeasurably happy.

Ta-daa! I was down in my basement yesterday. The humidity is more than 65% down there these days. I noticed I had left this sitting just like this since I took the picture. The upper legs are all still parallel to the table and the lower legs are still straight. I think it is safe to say that two layers is stiff enough for this model.

Pictures. as promised. Just two though. The first is a portrait of the Bug itself. Looking at it again, I am still very happy with it. But the next ones I built I am going to use the carbine instead of the rifle, because the gun just looks too big. The second picture is the size comparison, with one of the Bugs from Verhoeven's Starship Troopers movie, and then some Okumarts Colony Militia (which are reduced to 80%.)

Unfortunately, Warren's birthday stuff is taking longer than anticipated, so I won't have my kitbash done in anything close to time. Anybody else working on things that haven't been talked about?

Glad you like it. I really like it when I get an idea and can turn it into a model in a couple days and end up with something this appealing and still be an easy build . Finished up Warren's birthday stuff and threw this one together. It just seems like it hits all the points I want to have in a design
