I am playing Bolt Action, and moving into the North Africa theater now. I wanted some new scenery, and had an Opel Blitz from Fiddler's Green kicking about so I did a little work and here's what I came up with. As always, those are plastic toy wheels with the paper wheels on the front, because I hate making paper wheels. They are a little big. I am thinking of enlarging the model a little, and that might help mitigate the large wheels enough to put the rear fenders on (although in practice in seems like many of these trucks lost their fenders during service.)

Random thought: I hear you about modeling wheels. Ever think about laminating up some corrugated cardboard and skinning them with paper? Just thinking out loud.

I'm using this method with a little Aktash offroad military vehicle from Tomoko at the moment, cowboyleland. It does look good but measuring and laminating the corrugated card to the right size and then circling round with the scissors snipping until its just right can be a pain!
With the 4x4 and 6x6 vehicles (mods from on here of Ebbles models I think) I've made them using the simple method in just one thickness. It's not as nice but probably good enough for my skirmish games.
If it's for "display" or just for the pleasure of making something nice, that looks right, then I'll probably use the method you suggest.
Nice Opel Blitz, anyway Punkrabbitt!

It is hard to argue with $1 but to get the size just right, I have seen people laminate corrugated cardboard and cut it using a coping saw, or try a hole saw, maybe with the drill in reverse. (though with a hole saw you are back to an approximate size.)

One my Bren gunners from Artizan Designs has a left hand that seems larger than his head. I'm okay with approximate size lol!
