The theme for this month's HOARD is Shep - Boldly Gone Before This can be any sort of miniature figure or model on the above theme or feel free to submit miniatures off theme. If you submit a figure, they must include both front and rear art, have a proper trimming outline, and include instructions for multi-part models. Recolors and figure mods are encouraged, and even uncolored designs are welcome. No nudity or sexuality, but bloody gory and horrifying is encouraged. If you have questions about how to design your entries, like formats, resolution, and stuff like that, see the HOARD GUIDELINES in this forum category. Entries for the Hoard will be accepted until the last day of December, 2020. Losing Shep left a lot of us stunned. He would have been 46 this month, so we thought a Shep Tribute was in order. What is the theme really? His big interest before his untimely loss was Carnevale, the Venice Republic Game. But he did stuff all over the board -- Star Trek, Three Investigators, Cyberpunk, and the list goes on. Not everyone is a designer, but I encourage everyone to do something to remember him. whether it is printing up some of his figures or building one of his models or playing one of his own games. Or designing something with a Walter-vibe. Medicare AEP ends on the 7th, so I am hoping to hit this hard, though even if I have great success with these projects, I can't even make a dent in what he inspired. We miss you, Shep

I was working the Walmart kiosk when I posted that and started to say 'hello ' to a couple only to find my throat closed up. Not over his passing yet. I guess that is what it means to be choked up

I have started work on making a Persephone class starship (invented by Shep) in the style of his Discovery model ( cardboard-warriors.proboards.com/thread/7862/dsc-uss-discovery-1031-model ). I am stuck on what the back of the hull section should look like (in profile,) and also on getting the lettering legible on the saucer. I am open to suggestions if anyone has any tips. Actually, I just realised how helpful a picture I already had is. I can make a guess at the back of the ship. I still need to clean up the lettering.

Please check my posted pics of Shep's "The Jungle CyberClub" which I did this holiday weekend, which I posted over in the Gallery department. Took around 12 hours of actual cut and build time. [Thanks to squirmydad for the positive criticisms and advice!

I started over using the little Persephone model that squirmydad posted for a source. I doubt the nacells (half finished now?) will fit on this page so maybe I will make a slightly improved small version to fill up the space on the second page. Don't know how it prints yet. I may have to enlarge the fine print on the stand.

I wish my printer wasn't acting up. I still think the Campanile would make a great dice tower. Even has a little tray at the bottom I picture the dice tower being the brick part. The top part would be a cap to slide over the brick portion/ dice tower part of it. It would certainly be impressive EDIT -- I was looking at this again. Whoever did this model makes it look good, but on the 'attic', the winged lion should only be on two faces. On the other two should be 'Venice as Justice' sitting on a lion throne. And they do have 8 windows going up the sides. St. Mark's Campanile has an interesting history

I found my list of Shep projects (in the forum, not the original file) I have made a few references to my Shep List. As I have gone through many of Shep's posts and threads, I have made a list of projects he has inspired and are incomplete and incomplete projects he was hoping to do himself. If it helps anyone to come up with ideas, I will post it here and update occasionally as I revisit his posts and find other suggestions. I honestly was thinking more about things I could do myself rather than a list of possibilities for anyone, so there are several things along the lines of figures that are not included. Shep Inspired ProjectsRialto Bridge Da Vinci Glider Airstream Caravan - Three Investigators Headquarters Romulan Shuttle Chinese Junk Cyberpunk Modular Mall Gondola Cabin Carnavale chiesa Ca d'Oro, my version Vaporetto, steam stern-wheeler Theodoro and Winged Lion columns Gondola da Traghetto Polacca Shep's UnfinishedLuna-Base: 1995 Buzzard Transport Dragon Age Chantry Casa Rosata Advanced TMP and TNG reskins of Trek pieces Space 1999 – 1 - Moonbase Alpha - Corridors: bit.ly/2GWkgQK 2 - Moonbase Alpha - Quarters: bit.ly/2q5tIHJ 3 - Moonbase Alpha - Command Center 4 - Eagle Spaceship - Interior 5 - Moonbase Alpha - Medical Center 6 - Moonbase Alpha - Reactor Room 7 - Moonbase Alpha - Laboratory 8 - Moon - Surface 9 - Moonbase Alpha - Mess Hall / Recreation Room 10 - Moon - Atomic Waste Disposal Zone Winged Lion Fountain

I've been thinking of something for WNMHGB myself. Anything I'm missing? I was thinking of TOS medics and maybe those quirky space suits?

I am going to tweak the nacels but this is pretty close to final. And here are the pages that still need some tweaking since I think I "close(d) without saving" my last pass. I would be happy to hear suggestions, especially if anyone does a test build.

I'm still going to try to finish the DaVinci Glider that Shep suggested I do. The printer shopping is not going well, with most printers being either Out of Stock or Back Ordered. I might have to take it to a print shop when I finish I took one of the boatmen from an old illustration and turned him into a glider pilot. I think I now have the front vertical piece laid out, but need to do the reverse still. Also need to do the reverse of the horizontal frame, but this looks to be 'finishable'. I know, I made up a word there, but it fits.

Wow, cowboyleland, that stand is a wonderful tribute on its own. Thanks. I needed that EDIT -- Got a bit more done over lunch. I think I am down to the hand ropes. Since everyone's builds will be a bit different, I think I might just make lengths of rope to run down to the hands

Well, it's the color side of things that are wrong on my printer. Tech had me re-download the drivers, but it still is borked. I can print gray scale, so I started the test build EDIT -- Only, I forgot the ropes up the front for the foot control And putting it together is a lot of fun. I mentioned somewhere how this can't be aerodynamically sound, nor is it designed to survive a landing. Now, I can add that it isn't the easiest build. I took a cue from the DaVinci glider on the Canon site and have the wing supports criss-crossing to mount on the arched 'yoke' piece on the vertical. Gluing on the first wing was no problem, but unless you want to hold things until they are completely dry, you have to jury-rig some sort of support when you glue on the second. Doing the pilot in the same style as the Canon Wright Flyer, was semi-tedious, but not bad. Preshape the back to the shape of one side and edge glue. Once dry, putting the other side on is no problem. Then glue the head together at the forehead. Even the glider isn't that difficult, except for getting the wings glued on, and that is just a matter of finding things to prop under it while it dries

Sorry the photos are of the black and white build, but I now know it builds, and looks pretty okay, even in black and white EDIT -- I don't think I am even going to add the ropes for the hand control. It probably wouldn't be that hard to string them from the hands to the wing, but you would have to run them through the supports and ropes and would only make things look more complicated
