Palazzo Dario and its VK modded Merchant neighbour. Modern photos of the real Ca Dario show these dark blue and white striped palines but appear to show the steps on the other side

A generic red and white paline between the San Cristoforo bridge and the market steps. A sandola can be seen moored beside the crane house

Modified interior in place. I will be putting together some furniture although this is only visible through the window with the roof off. I have recently learned a little more about hat making and decided (when I master GIMP)to have another try at this building. The exterior will be basically the same but the interior is due a major revamp

I decided to rework the back of Caffe Lombardi. The drain coming in the corner of the window looks wrong The new version uses page 5 from the kit with a central door. Thhere was enough blank wall to offset the chimney without spoiling the design

Now I am happy with the back of Caffe Lombardi, I was wondering if some signage would be too much. I have two ideas in mind. The yellow and blue shield of Lombardi in the space between the mid height windows. A wooden sign board on the front of the Altane with the words Caffe Lombardi in fancy script. I could go crazy and do both. Any ideas?

I like both ideas, but my feeling is that signage typically wasn't displayed above the second floor. Foot traffic has always been heavy in Venice, so looking up could be troublesome. And this is before electric lights which could draw attention to things high up.
Like I said, I think both ideas can be worked in

When I built the back of Caffe Lombardi, I didn't know of any Venetian buildings with this chimney location.

After Easter, I will be starting on the next phase of my Venetian build. I plan to create something like this. For the right hand building (Palazzo Dario), I will do a further tweak to Vermin King's Ca Dario model. For the left hand building, I will try to finish Shep's Casa Rosatta.

Just keeps getting better and better. I just realized the other day that I did have a project that could have been in Papercuts -- the Venetian bridges. Oops

Unhappy with the small open window, I have decided to revisit the Hatter's Shop. The triple windows were designed by Vermin King for his Sortoportego buildings. I removed the top arches to fit a canopy, designed for me by Chris @ Papierschnitzel (lightning). The sign from the original model will be fitted above the canopy. I have included a blank version for scale. The door is a hybrid of two Vermin King designs, the exact positioning will depend on the height of the Riva. The posters were found in a google search and scaled to 30% of image size

<= So glad to see this back and going. How is the new work space going? The only issue is having to take all the stuff I'm storing in there before I set the bench up.

Sounds like you need another shed ... just for storage

The finished hat shop from the riva side. The door (designed by Vermin King) is placed to imply internal steps between the pavement level and the shop. This would, in theory, place the windows at the right height to serve customers.

The canal side, almost unchanged from the original build.
