Experimenting with a custom riva for Ca Dario. After lengthy discussion with Vermin King, I accepted that it didn't make sense to fit Ca Dario around the riva. The sensible approach was to fit the riva around Ca Dario. The plan is to slot Ca Dario into the cutaway on the right the stairs, with only the rear extension cut to fit on the riva. A modified Merchant Prince house will fit the riva on the other side of the stairs. To free up space on the riva, and present a more impressive facade, I am planning to rework my Merchant Prince houses to extend 1 inch forward of the riva, not the 10mm I chose for Back Alleys buildings

Experimenting with a custom riva for Ca Dario. That's a fantastic piece.

Experimenting with a custom riva for Ca Dario. That's a fantastic piece. It needs some fine tuning. Vermin King is helping me out.

The finished riva. The new stairs will slot in between Ca Dario and the riva. The riva behind Ca Dario is now 2 inches to fit the building exactly

I decided to go Neo Classical on my final Merchant Prince house. All the doors and windows (except the riva entrance) by Vermin King. I decided to Photoshop them in to save a lot of cutting.Balcony and texturing on the low profile roof, also by Vermin King. the twin chimneys are a hybrid of Merchant Prince and Back Alleys designs

The back, on the riva. I decided against an external staircase and mirror the large front windows, this time with a handrail. The grand entrance suggesting an internal stairwell.

View from the left canal. This building (and the other Merchant Prince houses), now extends 1 inch into the canal. This is to line up better with Ca Dario and create a little more playing area at the back.

Starting on Glenn's Venice church, I took inspiration from Dario cardboard-warriors.proboards.com/user/3343 and made a chapel for the back. I simplified mine to allow for fitting the tower further back. The sloped roof blocked the lower pair of gable end windows, so I covered them over and replaced the upper pair with the Gothic ones from a Merchant Prince house. the two tabs are part of Vermin King's Venice High Bridge mod and will slot into the bell tower for easy removal

Ready to build the bell tower. I'm a little concerned with the hairline gap at the top of the sloping roofs. I may add an edge trim to mimic lead flashing

I adapted the ridge tile off the roof to edge the tops of the side roofs. Not sure if it is correct for this period but it looks okay

Looking 'right', whatever that means On one of the posts at the Carnevale Fans FB page, someone mentioned how it is an alternate universe, so what you include is totally up to you BTW, my neck is killing me, but I did make some progress on the Hatters Bridge. I now have it squared so that it can have the flat walkway on top. I picture the end pedestals sitting over the edge of the rivas and bridge. I think this will make it look more integrated to the setting, although I am not sure most bridges are integrated. They are a means to an end and the designers have a tendency to try to beautify them.

The detachable tower didn't quite work. I decided to fix it in place but have the tower roof removable, complete with bell
