That kit is great. Love the way you made the rear too. Andrew, your cardboard Venice is an amazing project to follow. Keep the good stuff coming! 😁👌👌

I asked Vermin King about bridges suitable for a narrower canal. He designed this little beauty based on Ponti Dei Bareteri, The Hatter's Bridge. The walkway is a 3.5 inch square, overhanging the riva. This makes the bridge look wider than it is long and fits a 3 inch wide canal

8 x 18 inch riva for the church. Steps by vermin King. The spaces in the trachyte edging are for the San Cristoforo and Hatter's bridges. the square in the back corner is for the church tower.

Looking from Sortoportego San Antonio. I think the central insert on this riva needs a slight adjustment

From the Basilica edge, Ca Dario and the bell tower both sit on the edge of their riva. On realizing the canal entrance would be wider with this layout, I decided to extend the central riva and add a Crane House by David Graffam (another idea borrowed from Dario). I also reversed the high bridge as the Guard House was blocking the riva

That last shot (minus the carpet(?) on the left) could be right out of google earth Venice! Very convincing!

Given the success of the Church riva, I decided to make some improvements to the Sortoportego riva. The old riva had too many parts, with two 6x12 riva for the Sortoportego and two 3x12 strips to correct the width. The result was some awful gaps and on obvious overhang to one side. To correct this, I replaced the Sortoprtego riva with two 9x12, eliminating the need for the centre strips. I also fitted new trachi with a gap for the gable of the house that backs onto the high riva and another for a bridge.

Phase 1 riva worked back into the board. The leftover riva will be used for expansions. I finally got around to adding a chimney on the Guardhouse and making some of Shep's wells. The taller chimney on the Mask shop is also clearer in this picture

I wasn't happy with the gap beside the ramp. I have started to kit-bash Squirmydad's Venice Apartment block into a corner building with a sloping front. The long side cut to fit over the edge of the ramp. I made a patch to reduce the height of the back windows but I may need to blend it with pencils. The sort side fits against the back of the high riva.

Walls finished. The second short panel runs parallel to the long wall. The two windows at far right will be at right angles to the long side. If everything goes to plan, the door wall will slope sharply away from the adjoining building
