Hi all,
Has anyone created figures representing the forces of medieval Islam? Sullah Al Din (Saladin), Moors, etc? Ideally looking for a collection that could be used to field armies for wargaming.
Thanks!
Will

The only ones that come to mind immediately are the A-frame standees by Arion Games on DriveThru RPG - Saracens, Crusaders and Crusaders II. Unfortunately, only one still seems to have a working preview (Crusaders II), and that's just a low-res Quick Preview, but it will give you a rough idea of the layout. Hopefully, someone else may come up with some alternative options, though they may be of a more fantasy type, unfortunately.

I think "My First Wargame" ( Vyacheslav Batalov ) may have some sets. But maybe not. I don't remember well, sorry.

I found one set under "Saracens" on DriveThru but nothing for "Moors" or even "Turks." Quite an oversight!

Thanks all. I found basically what you found. Personally, I prefer the hand-drawn style to the CGI style of Arion Games. No offense intended...their renders are very well done, just not my style. If Vyacheslav Batalov ever does Saracens/Moors, I'll buy them in a heartbeat. I have his Normans, Saxons and Vikings (as well as several other sets from other time periods). Thanks again.

I was hoping you would have better luck in your search. I don't really have the time to get through the different illustrators, but I vaguely remember seeing some Crusader sets among these. I could be wrong. daildeca.cz/ilustratori.htmlI think Sergio Toppi had some, too, but I could be wrong again

Well, this is one (among others) 30mm set that I started working on long ago... This is starting to look like a really, historically and thematically complex/difficult set - spanning several centuries, and I'd like it to turn out well. Then as of today, looking at the number of figures, accessories and characters, I am considering dividing into two sets - infantry and cavalry, which of course changed the entire plan and so the content composition. So that's how it goes on, rather slowly...

No on the Toppi side of things. There was a comic on the fall of Constantinople, a couple Persian cavalry, one Moor, several Tartars. I didn't realize he did so many figures that would have been good for About the Castle

Forum Hoards 70/71 and 78-80 from 2010 have some Arabs that are appropriate from Roman times to the 1800s. Give them a look.

Love your figures. I have several 30YW sets. If you complete these new sets some day I'll be a customer for sure.

While I didn't find the Saracens I was hoping for, I did get to spend a nice hour paging through great pictures, and I found some other paper soldiers that will probably spark new projects for me.

If you're still looking for medieval islamic figures @wscarvie, Antohammer has some here Fantasy Araby Warriors and here Afghan Warriors which may do the trick. Most of the Afghans will be too late in period but there are some with just sword and small shield which might work.
I've not got the set; but the art for mesper Permes Oriental Warriors suggests that some of them might work. Oriental Warriors.
Both these producers also have ottoman janisseries but they look too late for your period.
Vyacheslav Bateslov now does a generic medieval set for 12-13th century. At least one of the sets, Seven Sons volume 2 or 3 I think, contains just one page of saracen light cavalry as associated mercenaries.
Good luck with your search.
