Searching through old resources I found some photos and files of early version of simplistic Siege/Breaching Tower. (those were the times, my friends... Once upon a time there was a tavern Siege Tower ) The photo on the left shows the first work-in-progress version of the siege tower - still in a 60 mm scale and some "retro" minis with a white outline. The photos on the right show the more polished version - it's full 3D - albeit very (but really very) simple. The scale is still 60 mm - but reducing to 30 mm shouldn't be a problem. Simplicity, i.e. the ease and speed of making such a "model", is IMHO an advantage, although some will certainly complain. I mainly think about the "flat" version (2D with tabs and base as in typical minis), which can be modified/modded, for example by adding a lowered bridge (gangplank, like Roman naval corvus) or a battering ram. So the 3D version will therefore be a kind of bonus or additional content for those who would prefer such a model. I'll probably also add different versions of the tower protection from projectiles and fire - in addition to the metal/bronze plates shown there could be also wet skins. What do you think about such a simple set and model? Too simple perhaps?

Likewise, simple geometry with good textures makes for great fun.

Simple, yes, but no, not "too simple". I like it. It has nice, well defined border lines between the different textures, which mean that it could scale down to 28 mm and still keep its detail. It also would be easy to print a couple of copies and chop one up to add a little bit more 3Dishness.
