That is wonderful. In a way the artwork reminds me of some of the Corriere dei Piccolo art from the 60's and 70's. For what looks like German writing to me, I find it unusual how 'Mediterranean' the castle looks. Or maybe Iberian.
No, I don't know of any similar terrain or figures, but I would sure like to see it

I know that this would have been one of my favorite books if I had it as a child I wonder if a well-used copy might be found that could be dismantled and scanned

I wonder if a well-used copy might be found that could be dismantled and scanned Dis... ...mantled!? The ones I saw for sale, looked well worn and were still going for over forty Euros/Dollars! I think cherno might have a bit of a collectors item there.

Not too much of a collector's item. I bought a used copy one or two years ago via Amazon, for maybe 14 Euros. If you like these kinds of books, there is also "The Things in Mouldy Manor" by the same author, Keith Moseley. Even better are the two big-format books by Jan Pienkowski: "Haunted House" and "Robot". The former is similar to "The Things in Mouldy Manor", but with more pages and bigger paintings/more (and more complex) pop-up functions, and the latter has a retro-sci-fi-style with a similar kindof (slightly dark, but children-friendly) humor.

My kids had very similar pop up books. "Weirdies of Wailing Wood" and "The Mystery of Maggoty Mill." I still have them in storage. Will the "Inked Adventures" tiles work for you cherno?

^ I don't think so. Besides, walls seem to be more important. Maybe I'll figure something out. Perhaps medieval playsets yield better results.

I still think that taking the images, one could edit out the figures and have backdrops, and I think there is enough floor showing to create floor tiles. I don't have a lot of time these days, but I think something like the Jake and Neverland Pirates playsets I did a while back would be something he would enjoy

Maybe something like these would be worthy to check out? >>> Permes EASY RUINSS at DriveThruRPG
In EASY RUINS set there are not only ruined walls but also some props and elements like doors/portals/windows which can be added/placed on walls, then also shadow/night version is available. BTW I think that it could be possible to almost fully recreate art style shown at your images, including watercolor-like effects and gray/greenish color palette, and so make brand new/unique scenery (or even whole set of premade parts/elements to print out and construct different versions of scenery).

The ruins set indeed looks pretty nice. Maybe I'll buy it and do some coloring before printing. Thanks for the suggestion!
