This will be my first submission to One Page Dungeon Contest. For anyone who is not familiar, it is pretty much what it sounds like: You can submit a dungeon, city, wilderness adventure, whatever. It just has to be system agnostic, and fit on one side of one sheet of paper. This will be a slightly odd submission, in that it is an attempt to fit an entire roleplaying campaign onto one page. It is set in a fictionalized version of the Thirty Years War. I'd love to hear your feedback, assuming I can manage to get it posted, which with proboards can be iffy. Please offer any criticisms. www.dungeoncontest.com/

Looks interesting, but before I print it up, is there a difference between the two files?

Thanks Alloydog. The second has Corrections, which are ongoing. There will probably be about 47 versions by the time I submit this, but I have until June, so that's okay.
It was actually Patric Crusiau's Thirty Years War an Swashbuckler figures (now sadly gone from the web, but not from my library) which got me into paper minis in the first place, and now my entire collection is paper (well, really plastic mailing label) flats.
I have never enjoyed miniatures gaming half so much!

I think this should be the final version, but I'll probably be saying that when I do the 47th final version.

Nope. Its amazing how simple it is to right a very short set of campaign rules that leave a lot of ambiguities. Hopefully, this version clears them up,

I think that, considering its required limitations, this is the best campaign I have ever written. I have been playtesting it, and it really seems to work well.

Five versions down, only 42 more to go! Well, hopefully version 7 will be the charm

...but, of course, I'm still tweaking it. This time the change is relatively small. I decided the artillery barrage Battlefield encounter wasn't deadly enough, and upgraded it. No real surprise. I started writing Swordsmen & Skeletons 13 years ago, and I'm still tweaking it as well.

A minor grammatical error in this one. Other than that, I think its spot on.

I added some random elements into this one, and a simple system that allows the campaign to grow through their implementation. I also modified the New World rules and encounters to some extent. Note that the addition of the Medicine Man and such elements as the Witch Burning and Horoscope are not meant to add in a supernatural dimension to this campaign. The GM is, of course, free to add in magic if he wants, but as written, the only effect of magic is that a lot of people in the 17th believe in it, and it can have a powerful psychological and sociological effect on the campaign. One other issue that could be important: Is the print size in the tables across from the maps too small? I can read them easily enough, but, of course, I wrote them. All criticism is appreciated.

Now of course, here is version 15. I think this alleviates my concern about a possible racial insensitivity issue, as the Native Americans are only either enemies or the Medicine Man. Cowboyleland was kind enough to suggest something like the following: The Captured Musketeer simply becomes a Native Ally in the New World. No rules even need to be change. Like the Musketeer, he becomes loyal as long as the PC doesn't become a jerk. Which, of course, as a Cardinal's Guard, is part of his job description.

Version 16 was not enough of a change to be worth posting, and I've tried to improve on this one several times without success. Looks like version 17 is it.

Improvements include: Numbered phases in a campaign turn order More legible sidebars The New World Colonies now jave more valuable treasures, making them a better possible option for an adventuring strategy, as opposed to just a place to get stuck in now and then, when the Cardinal's agents force you to kill somebody there. Adjustments to the encounters, adding in a new sidekick who is more reliable, but also wants to get paid. Adjustments to the Marshal Encounter. Previously, it took too long to get promoted to general, and was too easy to win field battles by pure adventure. Both of these have been adjusted. This campaign has now been played to virtual completion. It is a good system
