The theme for this month's HOARD is WWII Ambushes This can be any sort of miniature figure or model on the above theme or feel free to submit miniatures off theme. If you submit a figure, they must include both front and rear art, have a proper trimming outline, and include instructions for multi-part models. Recolors and figure mods are encouraged, and even uncolored designs are welcome. No nudity or sexuality, but bloody gory and horrifying is encouraged. If you have questions about how to design your entries, like formats, resolution, and stuff like that, see the HOARD GUIDELINES in this forum category. Entries for the Hoard will be accepted until the last day of March, 2022. I don't know how familiar you may be with Rawen's old WWII dioramas, or Robototehnik's dioramas, or World of Tanks, or ... These generally have a specific scene in mind, but there are a few pieces that can be used in a more generic fashion. I picture this Hoard having generic pieces that can be used in a game, rural and urban. Rubble, camoflaged cover, flames (we always need more flames), military and partisan figures, tank traps, etc. There is a lot to choose from. I usually close by saying 'have fun!', but with the current situation, I am going to pass on that

Back when I was a young arseling, I used to make plastic model kits. I really liked the Matchbox WWII vehicle kits, as they often had a diarama with them, for example the PzKpfw II: The theme for this month's horde reminded me of the model kits, so I thought I'd give on of them a bash. I used to use the scenery bits when I played with the models and 1/72 nd scale soldiers, as they made good cover/ambush sites. It's only work in progress at the moment, as I think the building wall needs a bit tidying up and I want to do th ematching base. But here is my take on the Matchbox Panzer II diarama:

Keen! I still have a bunch of those Matchbox ww2 models. This is also what I pictured when I think of the theme "WW2 Ambushes."

A little bunker for the French for battles along the Meuse Sedan - Needs a roof, and texture, and details, and a test-build.

As I said before; she looks great.
Ignore these suggestions if you like: Maybe there could be a little more contrast between her coat and her skin? In the front view the pistol looks to tilt to the right in a strange way, though it looks good from the back.
Just my two cents.

I had an idea for this Hoard, but not sure I will be able to finish it. I wanted to do a crater, well a set of three that are three sizes. I played with developing a V-cross-sectioned ring and flat bottom, but couldn't get the blasted thing to work out. Then I met a gal that was interested in Corgi paper models. I have one with a dog dish. Perfect! Steal the geometry, re-texture it and make two more enlargements. I have been collecting crater images already. It may happen, but might not. We will find out

Here's the latest. Figured since the tile was " WWII Ambushes', an Abushee seemed appropriate. Hans was kind enough to volunteer. If time allows i will add maybe another Resistance girl and another Officer. Cheers!

Well, my crater is not happening. I am sure it will fit into another Hoard later on.
Does anyone need more time?

I really liked the Matchbox WWII vehicle kits, as they often had a diarama with them, for example the PzKpfw II: Weeeeell... it was a bit over my skill level, for the time limit. I left out the crater. I didn't want to just copy/paste the model and posterise it , rather I need to practice using layers, filters and just about everything else as well. This was done using a combination of LibreOffice Draw and GIMP. The Fourth Doctor and Sarah Jane visit Tunisia, 1941. Figures by Sir Dave O and TARDIS by me.

We will find out Modifying the aogashima papercraft, second row right, could also have yielded a cool crater. www.hcc.co.jp/20200731/
