I'll introduce myself in more detail. I am the leader (not an artist) of the Warriors and Battles studio. We produce 54 and 40 mm flat soldiers from plastic, plywood and plastic resins. And we thought that our soldiers are good enough to be represented in paper))) First of all, I want to introduce you to the ambitious project "Grizzly Town and environs" on the theme of the Wild West. It is expected about 15-20 sets in this series. Two of them have already been released in plastic, Trappers and Mountainmen and Gold Rush. Sketches were made for several more - Buffalo Hunting, Iroquois, Pony Express. Several figures from the Trappers and Mountainmen set

Like all other publishers, I have to deal with the design of the figurines. 1. as is on a white background 2. on a colored background (on a cloud) 3. thick black outline, so beginner friendly I am not a very big cutter myself, and would prefer a thick outline. What are your preferences?

In general, most paper mini producers prefer the black outlining, as do most of the makers of such minis (like me!). It helps cover minor misalignments between the front and back artwork when folding and gluing the printouts especially. It also helps when edging the final cut mini, as paint and spirit markers will bleed slightly into the printed sides too sometimes, which the black helps hide.

It is very interesting for me to watch the process, how the sketch changes, acquires details and in the end turns into a great drawing.

I don't understand, dear "tarotman". I don't know if these splendid figures are used only to advertise your beautiful semi-flat plastic soldiers (I have been following you on VK for years), or if you expand your production and want to produce commercial paper soldiers'sheets. Or you want to market P&P digital products. In any case these are wonderful and superb figures.

Personally, I like the thin black border. To me it looks the best, and the easiest to make cutfiles for with out adjustments. I would also go for the 28mm, but that has mostly to do with the fact that all my other stuff is 28-32mm. Once again, my opinion, which is only one in an innumerable sea of preferences. In addition, I don't see why not to offer both. As they are already done, (there is no more labor involved, or materials since it isn't a physical product), it would only increase appeal to more potential buyers. Lastly I would just like to say these figs are great. For some reason they kind of make me think of if mesper and Antohammer got together in a bar over some fine whiskey and collaborated on some figs ( this is meant to be more a compliment than a comparison). Anyway Keep up the good work, I look forward to seeing more.

I also like the 28-32mm scaling. I noted that on the Whitewash City link, they say scaled to 1/60 or 30mm. I personally wish we would go by a scale instead of millimeters to eye level, as is common in gaming. I personally think of 1/60 as being closer to 25-28mm. 1/52-1/53 looks much better with 30mm figures.
How are you with layered pdf's? Many designers use layers to allow the end-user the ability to select which border they prefer

Probably everyone knows this scheme. I make my figurines in the following scales: 1:32 (54 mm to crown) - Plastic, rubber, plywood. Perfect size for fighting on the floor 1:42 (40 mm to crown) - Plastic, rubber, plywood, paper. Perfect size for tabletop battles 1:58 (28mm to eyes) Paper. In fact, I can't choose what size to make paper miniatures for board games. Someone makes 28 mm, someone 32. Some artists measure the height to the eyes, the second to the crown. Moreover, the rulers are bought on Sirius and Aldebaran, so the actual size ranges from 25 to 35 mm. And some people start doing it in 28 mm, and then all the minis are transferred to 32 mm. And this fact makes me think. As for the dispute between heroic (6 heads) and realistic (8 heads) proportions, I am silent for now. At the moment I decided to make a mini 28 mm (1:58) for the eyes. Simply because miniatures of this size were more conspicuous. I have no board game experience and don't know what size miniatures are in demand in the gaming community. I turned to the club for advice, the mini 40mm went with a bang, and no one was embarrassed by the difference in height, which surprised me a lot. Layers PDF is a very good solution, but it has one small but annoying limitation. To use it, you need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader, and not everyone has it. Stone age people (myself included) would prefer separate blocks with different options.

And there are folks who make pdf's with separate pages for the different borders. There is never just one way to do things

Not quite Grizzlytown, and not even quite paper) As Lao Tzu said to Confucius, a samurai without a sword is like a samurai with a sword in everything, only without a sword. So plywood soldiers are like paper soldiers in everything, only plywood These "toy soldiers" are always very beautiful. Vyacheslav Batalov is truly a great artist and author. I am pleased to have bought all of his booklets on Amazon and then all of his digital files directly from him first, now, just for a while, on the OBS sites.
