Hello, I’ve been lurking around here for awhile now. I’ve greatly appreciated all the great minis everyone has posted here, and have found uses for many of them. Real Life has kept me too busy to contribute thus far, but finally I’ve had some time to work on some figures. You may have seen some of my stuff in the old MMIP contest, I did the Darringtons, and some mermaids. One of my favorite RPGs is WFRP, but I certainly don’t have the money to buy and paint GW minis (to say nothing of the patience!). One character type I can never find minis for is halflings, so I’ve started to work on an assortment of the little buggers. Here is the first one I’ve completed. P.S. Any constructive feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Draggah!
Looks great!
My only criticism is that the front outline should be a thinner than the back. This is to cover any misalignments that happen during the score and fold stage.
Other than that, I think it's got great color and proportion. Looking forward to more from you!

very cute! can't wait to see the rest of the village.
i think the border is thinner than the back... but it is not noticeably so.

Thanks to both of you. The back outline is about four pixels thicker than the front (at 300ppi). Should I make the front thinner or the back thicker?
I've got a jester, pie seller, and a rat catcher (complete with small, but vicious, dog) in the works.

Cool, my bad! Now that I look closer, I can see that there is a difference I might go one pixel thinner on the front... but that's just me. Can't wait to see your other figs! Welcome! onemonkeybeau

Very cool! And nice to see you designing again. The only recommendation I'd make is to test print your design at the finished size to see if the details can be seen. Other than that, there is no reason you shouldn't be making a bunch of these.
I really like the shading and highlights, and the colors. JIM

I remember you! You introduced yourself with the two-part mermaid; beautiful girl above the waves, hideous sea-hag under the water. Good to see you making miniatures again.

This is a great style, and can't wait to see more of your stuff. I'm new to the boards and I haven't had the chance to see the work you did on the Darringtons, and mermaids. Is there a link I can go to to check them out?

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions and comments. For this next one I’ve made the lines a little thicker so hopefully the details will show a little better in the printed version.(thanks OneMonk!) Scruff- Thanks, my earlier stuff can be found here: www.mmiparchive.papermakeit.com/4th%20era%20showcases.html I’m in #35 and 37 under the name khagg9. Anyway, here is the second halfling so far, in a classic Olde Worlde role.

Excellent! Now I'm going to start pestering you about flat feet. The figures look like are tippy toe. I think you will find that drawing with a flat horizon will make the figures look more grounded and solid footed. JIM

I love the style of your figures - these are great! As usual, I'm now going to have to figure out a way to work these little guys into one of my adventures!
Perhaps they could be eaten by Scruff's Balrog... ;D

Thanks for the link. I actually dowloaded the mermaid quite some time ago. ;D I checked out the Darringtons also. Great work! Got those now too. so.....how much damage would a hot gooseberry pie to the face do anyways?....D4 per berry

The pie may be low damage, but it rolls on the dreaded 'Gastro-intestinal Critical Hit Chart'!

Wow. I like these. Looks like you perfected the outline for the second halfling. The shading is well done and I like the comic expression, particularly on the thief. Keep it up. We need more wee folk.

Here is the (or course rather tacky) halfling jester. Perfect for the ‘Entertainer’ career in WFRP, or a villager, or a rogue/ assassin in disguise for other games. OneMonk- I know you pointed out the ‘tiptoe’ issue with the other models, but this one actually is on his tiptoes!

Looking good Draggah. The shading on this one stands out nicely. Even standing tip toe, though the parts of his toes touching the ground should be flat. It is easiest just drawing a straight line at the bottom and drawing the curving of the toes coming up from that. Don't worry I had the same problem with my first designs. Once I started doing them the proper way, they looked much better on the battlefield.

Sorry I'm late coming to the party Draggah. These guys are great. We don't have enough halfling represented in paper out their, so keep up the work. No how about a few females to round things out?

I know it's been just over a year, but these images seem to have disappeared. Does anyone have them, or can draggah put them up somewhere new?
I need halflings :-)
