Here is a 2D miniature of the light cycle. The light trail can be fitted between the back wheel folds or can be left off.

I'll be posting more colors soon. Here is a starting spot for a potential game. I thought I would start it off with some ideas. Please feel free to help me expand it.
(I have expanded the game rule suggestions as of July 29/2009)
For a game of 2-4 (possibly even 8 cycles) using a 6 sided-die
• Cycles are placed on opposite sides of the grid or parallel on the same side as determined by the players before beginning, with the rear wheel on the edge, cycle facing the center of the board. (with 8 cycles in the fray two cycles are placed parallel too each other facing the center on each side or parallel facing the center all on the same side, moving from the center line out on either side of the center line. Roll the die to determine the order the players get to choose the placement of their cycle, Highest roll places first. In case of a tie, players with the tie, roll against each other to determine their order. highest roll gets honors.)
•The roll represents the cycles movement and determines randomly the speed of the cycle. Higher rolls mean higher speed.
1 pip = 1 grid space move. Each grid cross represents one space, using the front wheel of the cycle as space 0.
• The cycles would move simultaneously matching each others dice roll, until their die value is reached. The lower value roll would stop their movements sooner than a higher value. The random die value adds an element of chance and evens the playing field for less experienced and strategically adept players.
•The cycles will only have forward movement (no backwards) and passing/skipping a turn/move is not allowed.
•A 90 degree turn (on the grid line of the front tire) would have to count as 3 pips because of the position of the cycle after the turn. This costly move will play as a single move but will cost three pips to make.
• The light wave trail will be placed behind the cycle as its previous spot becomes vacant.(I'm trying to work out the size of the game grid and how I might be able to position the light wave trail. I'm think that if the grid was pasted to a piece of foam core, the various lengths of the trail can be slotted into the grid/foam core so that they stand and can maintain balance. now I just have to figure out the easiest way to create slots in the foam core for the trail to fit.
•Light trails are placed in the vacated spaces of the light cycles to indicate the path the cycles have travelled and to create a barrier/wall that all cycles cannot cross, including the cycle that created the wall/trail.
•Collisions with a light trail end the game for that cycle. The cycle and its trails are removed from the board.
•Play continues until only one cycle remains.
•During play, players may choose to Team-up and try to eliminate another player(s) together, but then must play against each other until only one cycle remains.
•If it is determined before the play begins that teams will exist, then the team whose cycles remain on the grid and have not been removed/eliminated are declared the winners.
