decided to try a Goblin Shaman/Mage for this months figure hoard. Trying to draw more of my own elements in inksacape to dress the goblin in. Might add a Belt & pouches some feathers and maybe some sort of headgear, not sure yet... Picy below so far, I haven't drawn the back of his robe yet so thats missing. (Just a screen capture so he's well out of scale) Comments/ideas thoughts etc welcome

A belt and some other little details will really make this look good.
I think I need to get more figure parts uploaded, I know I have the Alien Hunter ready... JIM

Very cool. I agree with the belt. You need something he can hang his tools of his trade from. Maybe a few things on the back so as not to busy the front too much.

Little more work tonight, he's starting to get a bit of a ninja feel... ninja shaman? I need to lighten the pouches a little other than that I might call the front done. Tried a helmet but it looked a bit to busy. Open to thoughts and suggestions on how to improve etc .

That's pretty cool... coming along great. Maybe you could put some dangling claw earrings on him or something...(grin)

Maybe add a little texture to the robe?

Maybe differently colored eyes? Or add a glowing fire to them?

Nice ideas , Definitely going to try some claw/bone earings and I'll play around with the eye colour as well (not sure how to do fire/glow but I'll play around and experiment). Texturing the robe might be beyond my knowledge/ability at the moment but i'll see if I can figure out how to do it in inkscape and get it looking resonable.

Mostly been playing with the craftrobo but had sometime to play with texturing in inkscape. It's pretty subtle and I'm not sure it'll look more than slightly grainy on print out but I got some version of texturing to work... For some reason it grates on me a bit and I had problems trying to make it not look like sack cloth... Once again any advice/CC is appreciated. I just noticed I missed the back of his robe (again)...

The texture is way too smooth, it won't show up when print, but it's a start. once you figure out the right method for overlaying a texture, the rest is just making or finding good textures.
Be sure to look at free image and texture files ,even if they are color, look for the texture, then change to grey scale, and adjust the contrast to boost the texture. You want slightly exaggerated, subtle just doesn't print well. JIM

Thanks for the tips OneMonk. I can't quiet get the fabric to look right..maybe just me but the fabric grain running square on a curved robe just looks funky, I'll have to try bending it in gimp and overlaying it there. For the moment I've stripped the texture off and part finished a backview, OneMonk almost finishes a whole tank I manage a part backview ;D Comments and Constructive Criticism welcome (I shortened the dagger a little again)

Very, very nice... I especially like the earring...(grin)
You'll have to mirror-flip the back image though...(wink)

Took me a while to get around to finishing him and test printing...to many things going on I had to lighten the robe to more grey than black as on print out it just looked like a little black blob, and I increased the ring size on the ear ring but it's still virtually unnoticable when printed...lessons learnt I might stop stealing one monks work and try drawing something from scratch for next month, if I can draw something I'm happy with ;D

Very cool, I'm sure all the goblin guys will use this figure.
I would encourage you to take the plunge and design something from scratch. Try tracing something, that's how I got started. JIM
