Eric can we get you to do the Robo files for this one, please. I am just about to buy one so I can churn out troops (Fantasy & Sci-Fi) and these bad boys would really be nice in a number of units kind of way.

I'm still on sick leave, and I wanted to make a page of these boyos in 15mm scale anyways, so I'll make up Craft Robo files for both sizes.

Thanks Eric - just snagged a Robo on ebay for $140US (+$60US shipping) which once landed is half the price of anything I buy here then I have to add the shipping on top.
So I look forward to CHURNING out the figures from here. My justification is that the price is about the same as buying a Special Unit in WHFB from GW in Aus.

Out of curiosity, is this the same North American Combine (NAC) from John Tuffley's StarGrunt/Dirtside/Full Thrust universe (aka: the "tuffleyverse")? Because, you know, they don't look like the official miniatures line available, in lead-free white metal, from Ground Zero Games.

BALH I should have googled the name before I nemed them . Well i'm off to change the name and get the PDFs updated. Lesson learned. Nate

Isn't NAC the New Anglian Confederation in the Tuffley verse?
I.e it's British based, hence the royal marines and ghurka figures, they just ceded the old colonies of usa and canada to the confederation.

Magpiestear is correct.

OK I have changed as much of the name as I can in the forums. I have also sent updated files to Jim to be uploaded to RPGnow. My apologies for any confusion this has caused as there was no correlation between my work and any other publishers it was just a cool name. I have since changed the name to Combine of Democratic Nations or CDN. Again my apologies for any confusion this has caused. Thanks to Paraplegic Racehorse for letting me know.

You guys need to think a little harder before just declaring something is named the same thing as something else. It's a lot of work to change everything once a set has been released.
I see nothing wrong with the name as is, and who cares if the Acronym is the name. And I know for a fact the John Tuffley wouldn't have any problem with it.
I think it's a mistake to change it. JIM

My post wasn't to point out the use of NAC but to correct Para racehorses post.
I too don't think it's worth changing them. They are so very different from GZG's NAC stuff that they shouldn't be confused.
I'm sure Jon Tuffley won't mind as you're not trying to copy his fluff and figure designs.

I agree with Magpiestear. I made an error. I appologize. Acronyms are not names and I failed to verify the names in connections to the acronyms before making my post.
I recant my earlier, erroneous observation and submit myself to suffer 50 public lashes with a wet spaghetti noodle.
These NAC are visually distinct from anything in the tuffleyverse and also the name does not match. On top of that, there's really only a limited number of ways to believably name a combined US/Canada/UK(?). As Jim said, I don't think it likely that John would do anything more than send a friendly note requesting change (and then laugh about it with you at the next con attend together).

Hmm... Interesting topic for a large convention panel discussion: The Similarity of Naming Conventions Across the Gaming Market and Which "Intellectual Property" is Worth Defending. I'll bet the issue is already addressed to some extent by the assorted fiction writer's guilds.

An alternate name could be "Space Marines and how not to get lynched by the GW Inquisitors".

Turns out NAC- North American Combine is the name for an OGRE faction, so a new name is needed.
I just thought Nate should consider some other options before changing so quickly. JIM

That may be the name of an OGRE faction... but do they have that name copyrighted? Couldn't it be used if not?

Thanks for the support everyone! I'm kinda leaning to National Centric Combine or NCC. I need to get some of the history for the armies written down so that you can see where I want to go with my ideas. I'll make a final decision on the name in the morning then redo the figs and documents so Jim can upload the changed ones ASAP.

Nate That works....as long as you don't refer to the National Centric Combine's 1701st unit as NCC-1701

hehe I thought about making my mech have 1701 somewhere on it but without the NCC before it. Alas It would be too cliche (HA let the spell checker try to solve that one).

EDIT: holy crap it figured it out ;D
