I spent Tuesday designing a corner section of a ruined medieval building. It'll also work great as WWI or WWII terrain. It's a two-level affair that has three windows that you can shoot through, optional shutters and window glass, a ladder, a couple of tables that you can turn onto their sides and use as barricades, and lots of crates to hide behind. If I can think of anything else that will fit on this model, I'll try to include it. I'm really happy with the way this one has turned out. I'm starting to feel like a real papercraft designer at last! Here's a sneak peek at my test build. (This grayscale version is a cheap way for me to test out if things are working. Wait till you see it in color!) All that's left is to add a ground tile, build a color version, and work up the instructions pages. That means this one should be available by this weekend. And then I honestly don't know what my next project will be. I'll see how I feel when this one is done. I have lots of half-finished projects right now...

That looks exactly how I would envisage it!
Would it be worth your/our while to have a few of these corners in one bundle/set? That way the buyer could roll out a town block in one hit. No need to wait for the next or next. Not saying that this will not be used "now", it's just that you could charge that next bracket.
Of course it will intermingle very nicely with your first round.
Nice.

Not too shabby mate! Nice and thematic. I bet i you widened that ladder you could allow figure bases to slot into the spaces and the figure could then perch on it.
You get a few more pieces of this put together and using your medieval village buildings one could play some interesting WW2 scenarios. I know I love to play some Weird War II.
Good stuff.

Looks good!
It might do to turn some of those crates into chests and trunks.
I am also looking forward to some stone ruins.
Have fun! Steve

Would it be worth your/our while to have a few of these corners in one bundle/set? Eventually, I'm sure I'll put together some bundles. Right now I want to release each individual model as soon as it's ready, because time isn't on my side. When I get tired of designing new wireframes or textures (which does happen sometimes) I'll probably get into more of an organizational mode and think seriously about putting bundles together.

It might do to turn some of those crates into chests and trunks. Done, and I think they look pretty good. Thanks for the suggestion! I'm also going to create a chest of drawers, since that'll be easy. This ruined corner just left so much blank space on the page that I'm really wracking my brain to come up with things that will fill the space. The crates were definitely getting old.

Looks good! Propwise what about some burned out furniture for additional props, like a dresser or a wardrobe or something?

This model requires 3 sheets, and hardly any space is wasted. The final tally for all the pieces looks like this: 1 support beam, 6 crates, 5 trunks, 2 tables, 2 dressers, 1 ladder, 2 wall sections, 2 floor sections, 4 window glass pieces, and 6 shutters. You're encouraged to cut up the windows so that they look busted, and you probably won't use all the shutters, but they're included just in case you do.
I should be able to finish all the work on this model tonight and send it over to Chris at the Ecardmodels shop sometime in the wee hours of the morning. He'll probably put it on sale this weekend.
I still don't know what I'll work on next. Here's my list, more or less:
Apothecary (wireframes done) Asylum (redesign of an old model, textures about 70% done, needs some new features) Big Sci-Fi Bunker (wireframes done, textures about 5% done) Unnamed medieval dwelling with lift-off roofs and interiors (wireframes done) City Gate (old model in need of redesign) Town Gate (old model in need of redesign) Townhouse (old model in need of redesign) Three-quarter ruined building (sketches only) Medieval Warehouse (sketches only) City walls, Towers and Gate (sketches only) Outhouses (old models in need of minor texture work, will be included with larger models) Small Sheds (wireframes done, will be included with larger models)

The sample you've shown us is really awesome, but then you've proven already what you can to. ;D
What I think is cool about these ruins is that you already have a whole selection of building to work with. Just add interiors and destroy it a bit and there you go. But, of course, new ones are great too!

Wow!! This is excellent Dave. Do you plan a range of them in different shapes/sizes to enable us to replace buildings with a ruin as the battle progresses?

Got it, built it, then played with it this afternoon. Very fast for me, usually I let a purchase linger, but, well... I had nothing planned for today's game, so put in a fun combat encounter instead. The Auld Grump

Thanks for checking it out! I had a lot of fun designing this. It's really satisfying to work on something I enjoy so much and getting your positive reactions. Do you plan a range of them in different shapes/sizes to enable us to replace buildings with a ruin as the battle progresses? Yes, I'm sure I'll be doing more ruins like these. I've sketched out a few ideas already. Got it, built it, then played with it this afternoon. Awesome! It's always a relief to know that the model actually fits together when other people build them. ;D

Thanks so much for the ruin! It's exactly what I was needing for more Mordheim ruins. The 3/4 ruin would be much appreciated (and immediately) purchased.

Need to get this ASAP. LOVE these for Mordheim or any fantasy/historical in Europe, really. PLEASE do more soon! Heck, a recolor/texture on the same walls would even be welcome. Need a multi story with the back blasted out, 3/4 ruin, 3/4 tall ruin, etc etc. Makes me want to play Mordheim SO BAD.

So, I came home a couple of night ago, just tired and frustrated (work-related). I hadn't been sleeping well and work had been tough and I was just in a general, all around bad mood. I laid in bed for a while, surfing the web. While doing so, I went to Dave's site and just looked at the pictures of all the buildings. I have bought all but 2 of the ruined buildings, but just haven't had the time to build much lately. I really was too tired to do much of anything, but the more I looked at the pictures, the more restless I became. Finally, I jumped up, printed off a set of sheets and put this together in about an hour (start to finish, allowing some time for glue to dry). I don't think it came out too bad considering I didn't look at the instructions until after I was finished! I'll do some more (someday) and add a bit more fluff when I do--though I may still add some to this model when I have time and energy again. Thanks, Dave, for the stress reliever! Hint, hint--I am definitely diggin' the ruined buildings. If you ever have the mind to do it, I'd like to see some accessories, such as broken down furniture, carts, wagons, fences, etc. Items that might populate a bad part of town or one that was destroyed. Anyway, just a (not-so-subtle) hint.

Thanks for the pictures! I also sometimes find it really soothing to put models together.
And that guy's game table is amazing. I've seen those buildings before over at Warseer and I can't wait until he starts slapping some paint on them.

I just hope he doesn't have to paint them like that, but can do some disassembling first, or it could be quite difficult and tedious...

Yay! I saw those on Facebook and had to smile.
It's neat to think that if your adventuring party arrived at these ruins, there could be anything from Elves to zombies defending the place!
