Thanks, Vermin King, it's been so long, I've forgotten a lot about how to use this forum. Getting old... It seems I've also forgotten how to highlight (tag) a name.

'@' in front of the name. I'm not sure how it would work on mine, since I display a space, but the actual forum name is 'VerminKing'. I prefer the space because I believe verminking means disfigured in Dutch

Hey dungeonmistress, I'm interested in doing some giants to add to the Norse Gods figs I did in the Pantheon showcase.
Maybe you could do a google image search and put up some examples of illustrations or figs you like of the different giant races...just to give me an idea of what you had in mind.

Gracious! You guys are fabulous! bravesirkevin : How do I choose? They are all gorgeous! I think the fighter on the left (with his back to me) looks like he will do the job for my fighter PC. For Wizards, I like the the one in the third pic behind and to the right of the sneak and the one in the last pic. Thank you so much!

Anyone know of a good paper mini of a spider swarm? I'm running a spider-themed D&D adventure this weekend. I have plenty of Giant Spiders to choose from (Eddnic's, One Monk's, Brave Adventures, PrintableHeroes), but no spider swarms.

I could have sworn that I saw and downloaded one some time ago, but I can't seem to find the file, or I'd point you to the site where I found it

Does anybody know of a huge sabertooth cat? A black sabertooth panther would be perfect, but I can of course re-color any other cat if need be...

jeffgeorge posted a link to paleopedia that might help you out, palaeopedia.tumblr.com/tagged/animalThere is also a site dedicated to the art of the artists at ABC, and this page has (among all kinds of other things) a page with some attacking sabertooths, daildeca.cz/kubelaabc1.htmlI'm not sure whether either site is legitimately allowed to use the art on them, but for your own use, you might find something that will help you out

Vermin King turned me on to google image searches. If you don't have to worry about usage rights it is totally the way to go.

Did you find that with 'sabertooth' or 'smilodon'? Because I hadn't caught that one

nolabert: Here is a spider swarm. I just cloned, rotated and layered a top down spider I found for free a long time ago. I would like to give the artist credit but that info is not contained in the original file. Maybe slayride35 can tell us who it is. I will take this down if the image is no longer meant to be free.

I'd also recommend searching on pinterest.com... tends to give you a far more attractive and relevant selection because it's mostly curated by human beings rather than algorithms and you can often find whole libraries of related content. I find it absolutely invaluable when looking for reference material for things like armour and weapons!

Evidently. If you have ever looked at Tatebanko or some of the Czech and Polish models, especially ones from 20 years back or older, I believe the goal was to minimize blank paper. The ABC models were in ABC Magazine. I think the goal was to minimize the number of pages

Holy cow...are those guys locked in some alternate universe where cardstock is more expensive than ink? As Vermin King said, this goes back to the days when these things were litho printed en masse, and either sold as kits or included in books/magazines, and in that environment, the cost of the ink was indeed negligible compared to the price of the paper. Also, the cost for the printing plates was the same whether the page was packed with pictures or virtually blank, so it was seen as a lost opportunity to not squeeze in as many pieces as one could.

When I started as an editor for a Photoshop print mag, our chief editor used to print our layouted texts, take a red marker and circle around big white areas, noting "this costs our money" at the side. It took a while to explain him that (a) with digital printing and (b)a more modern approach of lightness a page does not need to look like a lead desert... ^^

Hmmm, never seen that swarm before. I know Simon Powell (aka digger 2000 dundjinni land) made some spiders for the Lost World Miniatures, but I don't think he had any top downs in it. Cartoonish style of the spider doesn't fit his work either. Simon would have added webs too knowing him. So no infringement I can tell from DramaScape's work. I say carry on the good work on the freebies. Cool spider swarm.

I mentioned this in another post on another subject, but I was wondering, how many game masters, besides myself, would like to see townsfolk, tavern patrons, and royal courts for the other common races typically found in fantasy rpg games? In my games, the players often travel to villages where most of the population isn't human. They visit the Halls of the Dwarven King, the Court of the Sylvan Queen, or even the Crystal City of the High Elfin Prince. They sometimes stop in gnomish or halfling (although I typically use the other "h"-word) villages to sup at their excellent taverns. I have figures of orcish and goblin chiefs and shaman in case they get caught skulking about in their territories, but no dwarven, elfin, or other demihuman nobility or royalty to reward or punish them with. There are also many cities in my campaigns where the population is mixed. Humans make up the majority of the population, but demihumans can be found there, too. Thanks to the Forums, I have two delightful little kobold merchants. (They really confused my players.) I don't have any demihuman merchants. Merchant figures are, in fact, rather scarce. Thank goodness for Imperfect People.

@blackcat13 I do have some "fantasy civilians" in my pending release lineup. This half orc pet merchant will be in my upcoming familiars pack.
