We, my wife and I, saw Avatar earlier today. It has a kind of weak storyline... ...BUT... ...They made a sooooo totally cool world and filled it with great flora and fauna just screaming to be paper models... Just picture a battle between - um - for instance Jim's 'Terra Force' soldiers and big, blue bow-toting giants... Anyways, I recommend seeing the movie on cinema. It is very scenic and many scenes would loose alot on a TV screen.

The effects of the movie are great. The story is well...bland and full of cliches. (including the soundtrack) Out of 10 Points I would give it a 6. (mostly for the great effects) Additionally my first impression of Pandora was : WoW its like World of Warcraft! There are many similiarities (flying mountains look like the flying earth motes of Nagrand, Navi look like a mix of Night Elves and Draenai, the main hero gets his flying special mount after he qualified to fly a standard mount etc.) But why not, Wow is a good game and there are many memes of it spread out. So its no problem for me if someone takes elements out of it to make a movie. One of the pillars of creating civilization is built on copying good (or not so good) things.

Avatar was amazing! I'm going to see it again in 3D, I don't care if I get a headache. JIM

I really enjoyed Avatar.
The plot was a bit predictable, but it was well done.
Colonel, what's his name, was hard core, and made a memorable villain.
The CGI was emazing. Even without 3D it would have been great.

Yeah I watched it in 2d and was just blown away by the depth of the ecology on pandora.
I also sat there thinking, 'now who can we persuade to do some cardstock gunships like those!!!'

I'm already working on a Marine AMP suit... just debating on how closely I want to follow the original, and if it should be 2.5D or 3D.

Personally I think TOPO would be our guy. His floater thingy with four propeller-things looks almost like a small 'Dragon-Daddy'. He would make great gunships. IMHO...

Just saw it.... Very impressive, and I'm glad I saw it on the big screen and not at home.
