If I was in the market for a pseudo-rpg/wargame, fantasy based board game, what one should I chose? I'm interested in a easy to play board game with a novel game system and a touch of customization possibilities. Not to complicated, but not limited. There seem to be a number of them out there (Descent, World of Warcraft, Claustrophobia, Heroscape, Runewars, etc.), but what is your favorite?

Hmmm....
Decent (But make sure you get Road to Legend expansion). That would fill the pseudoRPG elements of your needs. With it's novel, yet not overly difficult rule dice/card system.
BattleLore would fit the wargamey..fairly novel and easy rules with customization.
Heroscape is uber customizable. Follows the same exact dice mechanic as Heroquest. And could be both a Wargame/Pseudo-rpg system. It now has a new version coming out using the DnD miniatures.

I think battlelore, with all the expansions will cover your list. They just added Heroes, and they work a little like RPG hero's, as in you get skills and level up with them. The game has a slick Lore system for magic and special abilities. I know this game is on my list to BIGGIFY to 28mm scale Battlemasters size games.
Descent is cool but I have found each scenario takes like 3+ hours to game threw.
Heroscape is the ultimate in light wargame, with tons of community add-ons and mods. The new D&D sets will feature the ability to take your team from one scenario to another with treasure intact, so there is some leveling up to it.
Runewars looks cool, I'm just waiting myself to see what the game time is, anything over 3 hours I tend to fall asleep.
Claustrophobia looks interesting, but is something that seems to be game that needs expansions to be of a long tern value, unless it plays like fantasy SpaceHulk and can stand on it's own.
I don't really have anything to suggest that hasn't been listed. JIM
