Excellent! I'll be converting these to gsd format tonight. And now a question about cavalry...would dwarves ride horses? Perhaps young dwarves would venture about on sturdy mountain ponies? Or would dwarves forgo cavalry for something more stolid like war wagons to serve as mobile fortresses with the occasional heavy chariot to act as line-breakers?

I think it depends very much on the game world you are playing in. They dont use (animal) mounts in Warhammer, but in Middle Earth they can ride ponies, and in World of Warcraft they use rams as mounts (as the race's basic mount - reputation, questing etc can allow them to ride almost anything). I dont know if the dwarves use actual horses as mounts in other game settings.
I have always seen the dwarves as a race that dont use mounts in general, but will prefer carts, chariots etc. If they really need a mount i believe they would use something like rams or ponies (animals that are small and tough, just as the dwarves themselves).

I have always been partial to dwarves riding mules. It would seem that their personalities would be very compatible. Besides, mules were often used in mining operations because of their diminuitive stature. When I sculpted a dwarven winged hussar for Lance & Laser, I mounted him on a mule. Have fun! Steve

I like the image of ram cavalry, ram chariots, and war wagons with Dwarven musketeers being pulled by Giant rams. A Dwarven winged Hussar sounds pretty funny, are there any pictures around of that sculpt? I just noticed in the Song of Blades roster they have Dwarves riding bears...huh. Odd image that.

The beautiful Nemo/Grenadier miniatures have Dwarves riding bears in the Fantasy Warrior system. And since it is a game very much played in Italy, it makes sense. A good system btw. An image of a 1989 mini: www.cs.cmu.edu/~tpope/sol/grenadier/images/0914.jpg

The creator of the Song of Blades rules lives in Italy so undoubtedly the bear-mounted dwarves would be familiar to him.
