Those ships are awesome! I was just about to modify some 3D-models and upload them on Shapeways to get some 3D-prints. I already did so with the Archer class (which reminds me that I still have to finish those deckplans). Now, I can save loads of money with your minis. Btw., any chance you draw some civilians (free traders, colonists, bar patrons, ordinary people) of various Federation races for use on a starbase any time soon? |

While watching TV tonight, I was a little creative and put together a sheet with 3 Archer class scouts (from the Vanguard novel series), 2 Saladin class destroyers and 1 Timberwolf class deep space monitor (a design of my own). These ships are ideal for giving your Star Trek campaigns that extra bit of flair. The scale should work quite well with David's ships. Here's your link to the goodies: Star Trek 2.5D Cardboard Federation Starship MinisAnd here's a preview...  I will print them out sometime this week, build them and take some photos, so you'll get a better idea of how the ships are supposed to look like. If you can't wait for that, you can of course find pictures in the internet. For the Timberwolf monitor, have Google search for USS Dingo. That should lead you to a pic in my deviantArt gallery. And the fun continues... Here are three more ships for your entertainment, a Romulan Bird of Prey, a Gorn Battle Cruiser and a Tholian Web Ship. Also, I made a sheet with hex-bases for a number of TOS factions. Have fun with it! Previews:  Link: bit.ly/1dGU9Ei Link: bit.ly/1jmBe9HAnd also here's a photo of the built ships for your reference:  However, I have to admit, that I skipped the really tiny parts of the Federation ships like deflector dishes and sensor screens and in case of the Timberwolf and the Archer warp nacelles. Also, there are two minor mistakes in the cut layouts of the ships: - The Saladin class discus has to be cut from the front to the middle, not from the back. - Archer's classes stand is a little thin at the end that goes into the ship. Simply take a black marker and draw it a bit stronger/wider, then cut out the new shape.  |

Oh.. I like the Romulan BOP. I gotta get building that! On the weekend we celebrated William Shatner's 83rd birthday by playing some ship to ship combat. The boys played the Federation and their mom and I played the Klingons. The Klingons took no prisoners and there were tears. Still, everyone had a fun game.  |

Could you explain the base construction, please - lovely CS That's quite simple. ( 1 ) You cut out the rectangle with all three layers of the base. Position it on your desk, so that the logo is on the left side. ( 2 ) You take an x-acto-knife and carefully cut out the longish rectangle in the hex on the right side. Cut along the blue lines and DON'T cut through the outer white parts. ( 3 ) Cut along the blue line right through the logo on the left. Be careful NOT to cut through the outer white parts. ( 4 ) Now score along the red lines and flip your base over. ( 5 ) Fold up the part with the rectangle hole and put some glue onto the side of this part that has no print. Then fold it over, so it sticks on top of the former middle section of the base. Put some glue on the printed part of what has now become the middle layer. ( 6 ) Fold the logo side over, press everything together and let the base dry. Finally, you cut off the white edges and the base is done. I will later edit this post with some pictures for a visual guide... Here we go:  |

Nice ships. Im getting inspired. Im working on assembling miniatures and structures for All Things Zombie, but when I'm finished I think I'll take another crack at designing some space ships.

I really dig those space ships!
I like how you achieve the right look with just a couple bends of the paper in some of those models.
and then I read that last adventure of yours and it just about blew my little mind. The paper scenery in the photos is great. I shall be looking back through the whole thread hoping to find that shuttle! I really like the story of the adventure as well, if not better, than the scenery. My players are generally more story related than scenery related, so I naturally gravitate towards the scenery, har har.

 I will add a photo, as soon as I built it myself, but till then follow this link to get a 2.5D Starfleet Spacedock: bit.ly/1magjUMNow I know that the mini is huge (3 pages of building fun) and still not even nearly in scale with the ships posted in this thread, and I also know that this is the movie version (meaning TMP/Phase II-era and not TOS), but it could still be used as a deep space station of any kind, as a Starbase or as Earth Spacedock. AND you can take it apart and store it flat... Have fun with it! 
E D I TThe station mini is not yet ready, but while cleaning up my HDD, I found a folder entitled "Enterprise Crew". Now, for all the love of it, I cannot remember wher I found this on the internet or who designed it, but this 21-pages-PDF bit.ly/1kmIVZP gives you a section of the AU Enterprise that includes a mess hall, three types of quarters (crew, junior and officer) and a turbolift as an open ceiling 3D cardboard model in 1/50 scale (a little bit larger than 30 mm standard, which will in turn make moving around minis easier). The instructions are included. Sadly, there is no picture of the finished model and I haven't built it myself yet. I wanted to nonetheless share it with you guys... |

You can use the minis for any Star Trek game, such as the old commercial ones by FASA, LUG and other companies or the much better independent ones like Where No Man Has Gone Before (Microlite20) or Far Trek (123d)... Brilliant work by both of you! I particularly love the Captain Krik figure, with a hint of artistic costume damage (only the names have been changed to protect the innocent...). He reminds me of an old line from one of the spoof Marvel comics, paraphrased here, "You can always tell when trouble's brewin', 'cause my shirt's startin' to rip!"
