David Okum has made some really nice stuff for his not-Star Trek line. There are really only two models I dislike, and they are both female Romulans. The commander type with a bit of resemblance to Kirstie Allie always looked a little off, and the one kind of crouching/running looked like she could do with more of a soldier's uniform and less of the Color Guard stuff. And that smile... it just bothers me. Helmets are always a plus for ground combatants, and his Romulans certainly had enough to choose from. Here is a full page of modified Romulan female soldiers, with different hair, reversed direction, momochromatic combat uniforms, helmets, etc. I hope you enjoy these:

Here are two Federation security women with phaser rifles, converted from David Okum's Where No Man Has Gone Before series:

While watching TV tonight, I was a little creative and put together a sheet with 3 Archer class scouts (from the Vanguard novel series), 2 Saladin class destroyers and 1 Timberwolf class deep space monitor (a design of my own). These ships are ideal for giving your Star Trek campaigns that extra bit of flair. The scale should work quite well with David's ships. Here's your link to the goodies: Star Trek 2.5D Cardboard Federation Starship MinisAnd here's a preview... I will print them out sometime this week, build them and take some photos, so you'll get a better idea of how the ships are supposed to look like. If you can't wait for that, you can of course find pictures in the internet. For the Timberwolf monitor, have Google search for USS Dingo. That should lead you to a pic in my deviantArt gallery. Have fun! Were these ships made to a particular scale?

Were these ships made to a particular scale? The two bigger ships are roughly in the same scale as the ships David did. Archer class, however, is a bit off, since a ship of just 50 m length would be only .97 cm long, if brought to the scale of the other ships… I did some math on the minis and came up with a rough factor of 51.7 that you use to calculate the mini's length. You just head over to www.memory-beta.wikia.com and search for the desired ship class or type. In the box on the right side, you'll find the ship's measurements. Take the length given there and divide it by 51.7. This will result in the length your mini is going to have. Then get yourself a shiny ortho of the ship that shows at least one side, dorsal, and ventral views. And there you go, therest is a little Photoshop or Gimp magic and you'll get yourself a 2.5D mini in rough scale to the rest of the ships in this thread… However, if need be, you'll have to steer away from the scale, like I have to do right now with my second papercuts entry. My build of USS Discovery would not work out in the correct scale, so I scaled the mini up to around 170 %, just to be able to build the gorram bucket… Pardon me French! EDIT: Oh, I forgot, the overall scale of all those ships works quite well with 1/5000 scale minis (you can order tons of those on shapeways.com).

Nah, it's not really 1/5000. It's 1/5169, to be exact... Hence the factor of 51.7

Oh, and while we have it with ships… I've got a huge one for you all: This is of course only the preview. Download the full glory of the Galaxy class here: bit.ly/2bCNNgLThe mini is 12.5 cm long, hence the large base, and I tried something new with the saucer section. As with my other ships (so far), you can take it apart and store it flat. IMPORTANT EDIT: I forgot to put into the instructions that you have to bend the warp nacelles up in a curve, forming a 90° angle with a rounded corner.

Loving all this Trek love! The trek minis were the first real sets of paper minis I designed. I'd love to add to the line soon, just have a lot of projects in the line up first.

I don't think I've posted this here (my apologies if I am double posting). These are the adventures that I've finished making comics for from my WNMHGB campaign over the years. I'm looking to switch up to Far Trek soon. Download the PDF here.

Ooohhh, those are great! Fun to read and inspiring at the same time. I'll be running an episode for my long lost (around 20 years) Trek group from the 90's, soon. Though I already have an adventure for their USS Lincoln and its crew, you can never get enough inspiration for miniscule details and options... Btw. here's USS Lincoln's crew: Commander Kavok (XO), Captain Dominic H. Calendar (CO), and Branch Admiral Rufus Excaliba Ffolks (CMO)... Hopefully, I won't forget to take photos when we run the adventure.

Yeah, those were good times... The captain was originally a lieutenant junior grade computer expert who manipulated her file, so she could retire herself with a high pension in order to pursuit her true destiny: painting. The XO was a Klingon exchange officer who refused to return to the empire because he felt he was chosen to turn Starfleet into real military. And the doctor was specifically half Betazoid half Scotsman, using his admiral's rank to provide himself with various privileges like active duty, his personal uniform style, and being allowed a saber as his side weapon of choice... In the beginning of their journeys, they also had a Vulcan chief engineer named PegBeg. He was kind of strange, mostly because his player had no idea how to correctly play a Vulcan. This lead to the rest of the crew believing him to be a Romulan spy. And when he finally came up with the idea to slow down the turbo lifts and having them play smooth jazz, the crew decided to declare him mad and threw him in the brig. He died when the ship was hit hard during a brush off with some Klingon during the Klingon civil war. (Which was no problem for the player because he had left the group by the time when PegBeg's doom came upon him.)

The male Orions need to be larger than 33 mm, as Orion males are bigger and stronger than humans. I included a 1 cm measure in the picture. Open the image in a graphics program, bring that cm to match a cm, and print the image. Or, you can open one of the other minis you use in a graphics program (GIMP, Photoshop, whatever), import the Orions and scale them to match the size of the other mini. This way all minis you use will be in the same scale, regardless of their original size. Just remember to keep those Orion guys around one head larger than humans. The Orion females are the same size as humans.

I have also done a female Orion character in security red... Lt. Cmdr Tiveda is the first officer and head of security on the USS Anubis following the promotion of the previous first officer to Captain after the actual Captain was killed in a Romulan sneak attack. I know, complicated story... Both hand phaser and phaser rifle versions.

Their green does not match the green of the rest of the mini's skin. Other than that, great work, and a great story, too.

I was just going to leave this here, but I showed it to my German wife and she didn't get it. I wouldn't want shep to miss the point so I will tell the story. Lucielle Ball, was a major comic star in early television. She went on to be a producer and was the first woman to run a major Hollywood studio. She supported Star Trek despite it being turned down by major networks and despite the fact that her whole board of directors voted to cancel the show. I am pretty sure this is a manipulated image, she must have looked older than this by the time the costumes were designed, but I thought maybe it would inspire a figure.

And my response got zapped by Wi-Fi going out when I hit 'Post Quick Reply'
I was just going to say that Lucy was very shrewd. She's the one that started the 'syndication rights' in most contracts these days. She didn't know if the show would be a success, but she felt that she could make a mint off syndication. Smart gal

I knew about Ms. Ball's involvement in the realization of Star Trek. I think mankind owes her some huge thanks. Aside from that, the picture is clearly a manip, as can be seen by the color mismatches and the strange shadow around the chinline. However, it's nonetheless a good and nice manip. Aaaaand that brings us to your challenge, cowboyleland... Challenge accepted and DONE!

Looks good shep - though should her head not be just a touch to the right? (Mike's feeling pernickity today.....) Actually, no it shouldn't. The mini is a 2D flat, but it still depicts a 3D person. She leans her right shoulder towards the onlooker, holding the stylus out towards whoever her opposite might be. Her left shoulder is taken back a little bit. However, you could say that her neck is a little bit thick… I'll work on that. ^^ Here you go…

shep linked his amazing pdf that also featured a few pages of Gorns by Baxart. I was very excited by these and printed them out before realizing they were mirrored fronts, rather than fronts and backs (except the Priestess.) So, I decided to make some backs for them. As it turns out, I am awful at creating digital art, so I had to improvise a little with some capes from Jabbro Jones as well. I also included the unarmed Gorn from Gilius, except I messed with the color saturation until the skin tone matched those of the Baxart models. So... seven Gorns with pistols, two Gorns with support weapons, a squad leader, and three characters: a warrior, a priestess, and an unarmed Gorn that can function as a civilian, a captive, an ambassador, or a starship captain that might be forced to fight unarmed against a similarly unarmed captain of a different race. Everything you might need for a small Gorn skirmish force. PDF download: www.dropbox.com/s/py6fp5h2k9a8aau/GornFinal.pdf?dl=0

Lucy was born in 1911, so she would have been 65 in 1966, when Star Trek premiered as a production of Desilu Studios. If I recall correctly, ST was a Desilu show until Lucy sold Desilu to Paramount about halfway thru ST's run. Lucy was the head of Desilu at the time, having bought out her ex-husband Desi Arnaz (inventor of the three-camera format that has dominated situation comedy production right up to today).
