Just an observation (I had my "Parduz" on). LOL! So now i am an annoying device, huh? Good for us, 'cause i'm not very fond in Star Trek and so i'll don't catch anything.... to me they're just over cool You know you've made it when you become a verb

Thanks for the feedback. The ships are intended to be original and not existing designs. The "USS Krajewski" is based on a combination of the Miranda class from Wrath of Khan and the Chandley class from the FASA game. They are presents for their namesakes and will be given to them tonight complete with custom game cards. The "pilons" are totally flat, just bent and shaded to look 3d. It is sort of based on the Loknar and the Akira class. These ships are just to game test the system. I'll be making original ships for the actual game.

If anything, that is a compliment, Parduz. I said that respecting your fine-eye for detail to see things that others overlook. Dave, thanks for clarifying. I posted something on your FB page, but now that you have cleared that up, you can ignore the pics... Sorry to bother you.

They are simply beatiful! It's amazing how you can capture perfectly the Trek 'feel' with the combination of simple geometry and simple textures that together are way more than the sum of the parts.
They are so simple and so 'right', it's amazing.

Thanks Hackbarth. Last night I started a new WNMHGB campaign. The new Ensigns ran into some Klingon problems on an abandoned Nausicaan penal colony on their way to Deep Space Station K7.

The set is custom, but made from worldworks games stuff. The counsels were from some star wars set I downloaded. No plans to release movie era or next gen figs anytime soon. I'm sticking with the original series.

Well Kefrem, how about arm-bands for rank? and I assume these things have eyes all the way around their heads? I didn't put a tab on because I think it would be cool to print it out on clear acetate so it can really "float" down the coridors. Attachments:

Hey, that is GREAT! I have ANOTHER request...
Since he is wearing a red shirt, his odds aren't good. Can you throw some more on there with yellow and blue, as well, please? ;D I could see a whole ship of these.

Um, I'm seeing it as naked except for the armbands. Are you refering to the red frill right above the legs? I guess I can recolour that.

But the one is awesome just the same As for the pdf...i dont need 20 of em im using it for my fantasy grounds 2 internet virtual tabletop so i just need one...i dont even need a back to it as im making an icon out of it.

Glad you told me that. I was about to start making a 3d version and I don't even play sci fi games. Though I may convert.

DOOOOOOOD!
I thought your take on KiLOTTIEkus was generous...
As far as 3D goes, I am going to do these as 2.5D "sliders!" (That is where you cut a slot in the top of one, and one in the bottom of one and slide them together. I think I just coined another phrase).
Because the way the legs are, I will do this like I did my "Tangle Roots" that Labrat did for Bellicose. I fold, cut and glue them like normal. Then, I take the legs and curl them around a bit to give them even MORE movement.
Making sliders is easy, because they can be stored flat. Or if you choose to make them 2.5D and "curly," then storage is a little trickier.

Your "slider" idea should work and twisting the tentacles around also sounds cool. My 3d idea was to make a tentacle and body with two half eyes at the top and then glue six of them together, but it would only be worth it for a PC.
Are their uniforms big enough to read or should the body cone above the coloured "frill" be coloured too?

Post by kiladecus on Dec 24, 2011 3:16:14 GMT -9
I would think that the whole "frill" coulr be colored, and the border be the same color to give the illusion of a uniform. Just my thought.
If you don't want to redo them, then I am happy with them how they are... but since you're asking... ;D

this is kinda what i had in mind...maybe make a yellow/red/blue version. maybe have a sash hangdown from the shirt bottomor something with the fleet badge on it instead of the top. As for what they are...they were called vendorians. they could shapeshift into anything...tables,chairs...people. They were shown in the animated episode *the survivor*

That does look like it would be easier to read. I'm liking the armbands less and less. Maybe I'll have another go later.

Woo.. loving the way that guy looks! I'm in the middle of rebooting my campaign. I have a bunch of new characters to draw and I'll be working on some new NPC sets soon. I'll need more figures.

Well, ready for this... I have recently finished all of the Original Series, and the animated series (NETFLIX is too cool).
Anyway, feel free to draw the figures in the true spirit of Star Trek without ONE negative comment from me.
If you think I would complain about the Orion Slave girl, consider these "fashions" from STOS: The episode "In the Wink Of An Eye" featured a female that wore HALF a uniform... literally! "Who Mourns For Adonais?" Featured a blonde (the very closely resembles my wife) in a scarf-ish toga.
I know you do NOT need my blessing, but just to avoid ANY "concerns" in future posts, they have put MANY outfits in the show that were risque NOW, let alone in 1968.
Just my thoughts, not that it is much! I have NEVER had a problem with ANY of your artwork, Dave, and I welcome ANYTHING you have to offer.
(Just thought I would say this to diffuse any rude comments made by anyone in advance. Better to be pro-active in my opinion).
Thanks for your attention,
I love your work!

So these should be easier to read. This time I also bothered to copy the colours and fleet badges from Dave's "away team" set, so these are about as compatible as you can get. I figured if they are wearing sweaters we wouldn't see some of the contours. I thought about putting arms on the uniforms so there would be somewhere to put the rank stripes, but then I thought a squid in a sweater would just be too silly. Attachments:

Ran the second episode of my new campaign and it was great fun. Medusans, Romulans and a new character that is catlike (but not a Catian). I guess I'll have to make some new figures for my current campaign. Giant Spiders threaten the Landing Party as they investigate ancient ruins. Under the ruins are a series of crypts for the lost Baphomet colony. The Medusan smugglers are subdued, but a gang of Romulans show up to take away the Medusan commander and destroy his ship. Turns out the strange energy readings were because the planet was a huge weapon created by the Baphomets. The Medusans were trying to gather information on how to create future planet weapons. The Romulans were trying to stop them. The Landing Party returned to their ship unnerved with their encounter with the Romulans and further convinced their ship is being shadowed by a cloaked vessel. This was the first time I used Romulans in my games. It was really fun.

Maybe I'll have another go later. maybe you could put a phaser/tricorder/etc on some of em..officially they werent even federation....thier homeworld was in the rom neutral zone...but in my campaign they were liberated and joined the federation. You could give em some romulan garb too for a romulan officer version

P1020035 by cowboyleland, on Flickr Here is the Bird of Prey. I put pieces of bamboo skewers in the warp engines and used stick pins for the rounded ends. Also, I found it was easier to glue the photo paper if I rubbed the back with sandpaper before cutting and gluing

P1020036 by cowboyleland, on Flickr Third and final picture, both of them together. I need to adjust the angle on the cruisers saucer and it could use some stick pins. The scratches on the saucer are from me trying to scratch the emulsion off so the glue would stick better. I don't recomend it. Both ships fit on one 6x4 print so I guess that comes out to 10.5 cents each (plus pins)

Seeing the last ships by Cowboy Leland reminded me that I forgot to show that last two ships I built of my friends this christmas. The design is kinda wacky, but so are my friends. These ships are similar because they for two brothers who play in my game group.
