I thought this might be a good place to announce this new paper mini publisher. sanitystudios.com offers full-color front and back 30mm paper miniatures. The paper minis were originally created for Bellicose Fantasy Battles but can also be used in other miniatures games. Here's the direct link: sanitystudios.com/bellicose/paperMinisHorde Pack IHorde Pack IIThey have some free samples (including GSD cut files) on the page.

Hmm interesting........... The figures might make interesting chaos or demonic creatures. There are some interesting textures on the bases/movement trays. I particularly like the wasteland one...... BUT.......it was rather naughty of them to use Jim's base and movement tray templates without any acknowledgement!!! even if they have been recoloured! The sets seem to be value for money if the freebies are representative since you get a page full of each monster type (presumably enough for a unit under the rules) although they are all in the same pose! and they are in the Onemonk style. Worth keeping an eye on though, definitely a site to bookmark.

I gave them permission to use the designs. All I wanted was a link back to my site, which they did, so all is happy!
I'm glad to see new blood in the miniatures designing, the more the merrier. These guys will give me some real incentive to kick butt on my army sets... JIM

Not bad, but could use a bit more variety. Having so many look alike works for drilled infantry in uniform, but for chaotic beasties, it looks a bit odd.

While they may be interesting looking, it looks like there is only a single pose for each creature type. A real deal breaker for me.
OneMonk models have raised my standards for what I expect in a paper model ;D

I like what they did with layers in their files for bases. You can put patchy grass on top of the other textures and come up with some interesting combinations.
Have fun! Steve

Yeah, patchy grass on lava. Now I need to figure out where I would use that...

Believe it or not I am the artist for all the Sanity Studios paper minis. Admittedly my work was greatly influenced by onemonk. I think Jim does great work. I am pretty new at these things and haven't had too much time yet to build out the line. I am first trying to give playing pieces for the game Bellicose, so that people have pieces to use when playing. More variety and poses are on the way once I lay down a baseline. It seems that is the primary criticism. Thank you all for your comments. I hope to greater impress you guys in the future when more models are produced. Maybe someday I'll be able to give Jim a run for his money. I appreciate what onemonk brings to the hobby and we are simply trying to expand upon that. Paper minis are a great way for us to give gamers an inexpensive alternative to traditional miniatures. Keep an eye out for future installments. We are just getting started.

Cool, welcome to the forums.
I welcome the competition! Do your best because I have some awesome fantasy army stuff I'd like to do as well.
I totally understand where your coming from on the variety criticisms, it takes time to develop a style and work flow to create consistent designs and alternate posses. I think your off to a good start.
Soon enough I'll be back into full design mode again ,then watch out! JIM

Welcome new creators! For starters, I like the product and it's cool that you're working to get the pieces out for the base game that spawned them. For variety; even having three different looking poses for the troops breaks up the sameness and makes for a better unit 'picture'. Demon 1: arms up, Demon 2: arms down, Demon 3: one arm up and the other arm down, Demon 4: mirror image of Demon 3. Just a suggestion. Keep up the good work! ;D

I'm with Squirmydad on this.
Even if the you used the same iillustrations, and half of them were just mirror images of the existing art, I think it would help to break them up.

Hey Labrat, welcome to the forum. I like the new creatures. Keep up the good work. Variety is good, but if it is the difference between that and more creatures, I'd vote more creatures. Though I do not play armies, so a little repetition is not that noticeable.

I just found this again from back in the day. It's interesting how things have developed since then. It wasn't that long ago, I was just getting started making paper minis. I have learned a lot since then and I still have a great deal to learn. I will keep trying to push the envelope to bring quality products to the forefront and innovation in design. One Monk Miniatures is the bomb diggety!
Thanks Jim for making this site for us all.
And especially for me. Mwahahaha!

No joke!
It's awesome to see things from a 'hind sight' perspective... like the saying goes... "hind sight is 20/20"

The satyrs have some nice alternate weapons already, so the sets are progressing and evolving well. The giants are lovely.
All will be making an appearance in my 15mm warhammer campaign as I wait for bellicose to arrive. (I just love the epic scale of 15mm.... just read cm instead of inches and everything is fine, that allows a 10 foot table sized game to be played on a standard 4ft space).
