Wanted to design a small flying unit to go with the dunebuggy as another light vechile. The idea behind this one being a single seat attack craft. I'll have to do some photo's with something in the pic for scale. Wingspan 11cm, cockpit width 2.1cm (3/4 inch), clearbase stick about 6cm. Two pic's, one of the sketchup design and the second of a finalish test build(pretty rough) Thoughts and comments welcome . Hopefully texturing will be quicker than the dunebuggy...

Looks very cool as a one man harrier or the like. I have to ask though, what is that holding it in the air? Plexiglas?

that's too cool, put side by side with TF's wolverine tank and slick's power armor it would rock! post a color scheme as soon as you're done with it..!

Very COOL! I can't wait to see more! What does the back view look like? I'm picturing vectored thrust engines...

I'm curious too, does it have a long tail to stabilize the large-ish crew compartment? seeing the 3D image it would seem to have two small side-tails rather than a single central tail; I must say, I really like this pattern, something kinda moderate-deformed which ain't too difficult to crank out in numbers, but that has its reason to be quite effective, visually speaking... I'm only concerned for us 15mm users, as those diminutive triangular guns down there could be a pain in the ass to put together once resized... maybe an optional 2.5D-like flat gun to be intersected..?

thanks for the comments I should have posted a bit more info but it was really late last night and I've spent the day replacing plasterboard in my lounge room today...anyways Jabbro - It's inkjet printable transparency folded into a triangular angled shape. It turned out much stronger than I expected I just need to find a glue that doesn't turn it frosty like super glue does... WaffleM & Squirmydad - the tail movement is quiet short but not short enough that it looks as if it wouldn't fly, some more pic's below, nothing to fancy on the engines I'm afraid, but if you could post a pic of vectored thrusters i'll give it a shot. I was just going to texture some thrust ports on the underside of the square engine pods Ciabs - the original design had a middle stab but I didn't add it on one of the versions and liked the look more I may throw it in anyways for some variety. The triangles should be foldable at 15mm there about the same size as my dunebuggies MG (if not a hair bigger) and although not easy at 15mm I have folded them at that scale, but I may include a 2/2.5d option anyways Few more pic's, I need a bigger light box for comparison size shots, As you can see from the below it's quiet a small little beasty. Im contemplating making the rear have a hatch for the transport of snipers and their spotters for rapid behind enemy lines deployment, or a small amount of cargo Did this little video of the sku model, pretty basic(sorry for the big file size): edit: theres some info and other development shots on my blog post.

I got a little side tracked painting the house last weekend, but I'm starting the colouring and texturing this weekend. Below is a rough list of what I'm going to do: ~ Same colours as the dunebuggy (including the non-mil schemes), similar level of wear and tear ~ Shark mouth overlay, plus one other ~ Some name motifs similar to the old style WW2 aircraft ~ Complete an advanced design with a transparent cockpit and pilot if possible. ~ Complete 2-3 different wing pods; most likely missile rack as above, Fuel Pod and 1 large missile or large laser weapons ~ Design some landing skids I'll post some updates as I go along first thing to do is to finish vectorizing the outline for neatness.

never get as much done as I think I can in a weekend I'm about 75% finished plating the flyer, still have weathering and wear and tear to go, below is a wip picy of a couple of pieces. It's been much quicker than the dunebuggy but still taking a bit of time and i'm being careful to do each layer together for every component rather than finishing up one component then moving on. thoughts and comments welcome

Looking good so far. The option to make your own transparent cockpit sounds cool, too. Kindda like your dune buggy but with windows.

The texturings almost done, didn't have much time to work on it this week, so the going has been slow: The pictures might be a little small: wear and tear are done and theres 4 different bits of nose art: The wizard is a Public domain image, The Pinup on a bullet my wife did (much better at drawing than me ), Dragonfly next is mine and the last is a simple fireball. The coloring is simple as on printout they are about 12mm (1/2 inch high) I'm still working on the flame and electricity overlays, then I'll finish designing the landing struts. comments and thoughts welcome as usual

Really like the detail work on the Wings and Fuselage. And the nose art is cool!
Looking forward to seeing it built!

Texturing is done, just have the instructions do (the bit I like the least ). I'll try and get it finished up. between spiders etc I've been looking at doing a new fantasy army although the drawing stage is causing me some difficulty (okay a lot).

I think I like Topo's design more . Im midway through a coloured test build, GSD's are done and I've got about half the pic's for instructions taken. Should be on target for an end of weekend finish.

Getting close to finalized, need to finish up the instructions and it should be done. Picy with optional landing struts down Not your standard military paint scheme

Instructions done, Layout finalized in Gimp. colours - Desert, Green, Light Grey, Dark Grey (black), Red, Blue, Woodland camo, Urban Camo + flame overlay Just need to export the layers and go see my mate to get it assembled as a layered PDF. Plan is to do the combining tomorrow morning, once that's done one final test build from the PDF, then I'll drop the files up. The 15mm version I'm still playing with as some bits are just impossible to do at 15mm scale sleep time for the moment

Well done!
Looks great!
Like all the schemes!
And I agree it seems even simple 3d models can take an absurd amount of time to complete and polish.

Took me a few hours to rest and recharge . I've started on my next lot of paper miniatures, had all the sketches roughed out. They are a bit different to the normal Onemonk mini so they wont be to eveyones taste and definitely standalone but kids will like them (and me ) . Hopefully I'll have something good to go by end of next weekend ;D I'm glad others will get use out of the Dragonfly other than me. I am a bit curious what you all thought about the fluff page

Awesome model.
All the layered color and iconagraphy options are great. They let you print a huge dragon fly fleet where no two need be the same.
Great Work !

I like a bit of variety in my units as well If we can just convince Onemonk and Slick to release an official insignia for the NCC and Terraforce I could overlay those on the wings as options .
