I'm working on a board game based on the premise of an angry mob of villagers attacking a mad scientist (or similar). It's a free print and play game. Would anyone be interested in doing art for the paper miniatures that will be the villagers? If there's no takers, I'll just go with woodcuts like I did for Medieval Manor. Anyhow, if interested, let me know The game is under development here- www.curufea.com/Wikka/wikka.php?wakka=StormTheCastle

If you go for a medieval theme (not necessarly fantasy, just medieval) you may want to take a look at the Imperfects minis by drywtheharper. Plenty of uncommon figures, like paesans, nobles and so on. My country history is plenty of bloody events between the local noble and the poor people, so it may fit your game.

Nice! Some good stuff there. I do have some specific villager types in mind for the games though, so will have some gaps.

... so will have some gaps. He's a very kind person... i dunno how much he's liking it, but he have already satisfied a lot of request 'cause each one in this forum has his personal PC/NCP in his campaign.

Someone emailled me fora list, so I'll post the list here as well to give folk an idea- I'm after some medieval villagers of different occupations, possibly with peasant weapons or torches and pitch forks. Each player controls a group of 7 villagers -one "hero" character that is a particular occupation, two lieutenants and 4 flunkeys. I'm aiming for a semi-real, semi-comedy feel for the game. I'll be making the board to have one inch squares, so figures of 1" width and 2" height would be good. 300DPI and png. It's for a free game, so I'm only offering attribution and trade for something else I have or can do. The game is here - www.curufea.com/Wikka/wikka.php?wakka=StormTheCastleList of villagers- * Sheriff with short sword, Guards (2), Militia(4) * Guild Master with coin purse, Merchants (2), Street Hawkers(4) * Innkeeper with tankard, Staff (2), Patrons (4) * Farmer with pitchfork, Family (2), Farmhands(4) * Schoolteacher with abacus, Assistants (2), Pupils(4) * Priest with cross, Elders (2), Congregation(4) Alternatively, if you want something more creative, there are the various kinds of Evil Tyrant- * Mad Scientist (3 types) o Variants: Arboreal Alchemist (plants), Frankaiju (animals), Technomancer (machines) * Evil Sorceror (3 types) o Variants: Infernalist (demons), Solomnolist (golems), Illusionist (illusion) * Dastardly Baron (2 types) o Variants: Mercenary Commander (humans), Dungeon Master (fantasy races) * Necromancer (2 types) o Variants: Animator (skeletons, zombies), Spiritualist (ghosts, wraiths) I'm not sure yet how to handle the fiendish creations, because how they look depends on the Evil Tyrant chosen for the game. I don't want to end up with hundreds of unused counters like Betrayal at House on the Hill.

That's a lot of figures, even for me. If I may make a suggestion, pick 2 to 4 Villager Types to start with and 1 or 2 Villian types. Release the other types as Expansion Packs as you see how well things go over with various players. Otherwise that's at least 46 main figures for Players and Villians (not counting the Villian's minions). Oh, by coincidence, I am in the middle of my Imperfect Angry Mob figures. 12 angry villagers armed with pitchforks, scythes, meat cleavers, carving knives, and even a rolling pin. Not to mention the many torches. They were to compliment the Evil Soldiers, you know, be overly oppressed peasantry finally getting up the gumption to revolt. The front ink is done for all 12, now I have to do the back ink and get them colored. Dryw the Harper

I'm thinking it may be a good idea to not have the lieutenant and flunkey class figures different - it may look good for everyone to be an individual in the mob, but it may be confusing to the players as to which figures belong to their mob. That also reduces types of villager counters to only 18. Also - I think a lot of your existing townsfolk could be used. But I really am interested in seeing your angry mob

Here we have the lair tile and an example card for the game. Not sure about the card yet, I think it may be too hard to read.

Ack - I hate spelling mistakes! Thanks for that!
I don't think readability of fonts is that huge an issue with board games though - the numbers are the important bit and the rest is symbolically recognisable.
