Here's my latest model, the Ruined Wall. This should be a pretty handy bit of terrain for your skirmish gaming. It's a multi-layered model like the other ruins I've been doing lately, and here I've chosen two different looks that are possible.

Thanks! I hope it's as much fun to play with as it was to design it.

Anyone have any good suggestions for a playing ground mat for gaming these ruined towns. I have been on the outlook for a full size cobblestone style play mat, but can't find something at least 4x8 feet. JIM

I've been wondering about the same thing Jim. I know there is a company that makes these cool rubberized mats with built in texture and detail. I wonder if they make a cobblestone street section.
I've been looking in the paper model realm for a suitable matte or tiles. I'm still not sure what would look or go together best. It might be cool if Dave would release a sheet of his cobblestone texture and we could "cobble" together something on our own. Something where the streets aren't so symmetrical and a little more loose and organic. A little more like a medieval town would have been.

Yea, I thought the mat would be better because printed versions end up looking line a grid, and I want to randomly place buildings and such.
I think I may just create my own from flexible foam sheet, and use the Litko cobblestone stencil to drybrush the random roads and such.
I know I've seen someone that makes a cobblestone playing mat, I can't find it either. JIM

I found the site I was thinking of and the products are called Terra-Flex mats. They come in 2 flavors(currently) and a variety of reasonably priced sizes. They could actually work pretty well for a foundation for a village/town. I'd like to see what Litko-Aero could come up with. I did not realize you had a Cobblestone stencil... off to check out what all stencils they have. ~F

The Litko stencil is good, but you have to take care when using it, and I when I designed it I didn't make it seamless ,which I now see as something I should have done. I designed it for smaller area's though, and not really for covering a table top. I'm off to check out the link, I'll add it to my other topic on this ,since we have totally hijacked Daves topic. ;D The game mat topic here... onemonk.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=stats&action=display&thread=2069&page=1

Dave, in Floyds reply in the other topic, he included a link to the Iron Hands guy. His Mordheim Terran setup is perfect for conversion to paper, especially the foundations, canals, and bridges. ironhands.com/mord1.htmIf only I have the texture collection.... I'm too lazy to go out and shoot my own textures. Although I can stil do the detailed stuff like I mentioned before, and statures as well, I can do some very twisted looking statues, corrupted perhaps, or as scenes of great carnage and suffering... JIM Oh, I can do some more creepy trees! Nice and organic, what I specialize in!
