More mods for the masses. This time they are not based on One Monk minis, but on minis i found at Yahoo Groups. I'm trying to make an army for the Kingdom of Cormyr from the Forgotten Realms campaign setting just to see if i can. There goes the first Blade (Rank equivalent do Private). He is not finished yet, but now i just need some last touchs and correcting minor mistakes before he is finished. This guy will not have rear art because the paper mini he is based on doesn't have any. Here goes as image of the book cover that inspired me to make him. Also a small problem. I don't know if his shield is good. Technically Cormyr's coat of arms is a purple dragon on a white background, as seem there: images2.wikia.nocookie.net/forgottenrealms/images/4/49/4e_purple_dragon_knight_-_Lucio_Parrillo.jpg. But it sure doesn't looks good to me. What you guys think i should try?

Ahh, I see you found Bhoritz's figures. You can find more HERE. I ran it through Google Translate because the page is in French, but if your rather have the native tongue, go HERE. I am sure you can find more figures to help you with your modding. Maybe you can do a mix. It looks like the Cormyr Guards in one the game book cover have round shields. Why not use a sliver round shield, with an purple icon something like this? I am sure you can find or create a better crest, but you get the idea.

Following jabbro's suggestion i decided to make round shields and so my first mini of this set is finished: I'll make some more before i can really make a sheet of them with bases and etc.

Other than being lefthanded (which was not very accepted by anyone until 40 years ago) to have the shield oriented in that way it should be more centered in the figure, as it is tied to the arm.... right now it seems just handled like a "mug".
I like very much the colors and the "glitter" effect on the chainmail.

Whats wrong with sinister fighters!*winks* I fight left handed in the SCA. Shields with center bosses could be held like that. Not tied to the arm, but held in the hand. The boss was there to protect the hand. Its not what you normally see with shields like a heater or a kite, but for round or coffin shields its acceptable. I like the design so far and cant wait to see more. ;D

Nothing really wrong about sinisters fighters, for me.... it is just a think that historically was fought to the extreme I'm not so much an experts in shields, so i really trust in you.... anyway i still see the shield with a wrong angle if you keep the position, or with a wrong position if you keep the angle....

I changed the angle a little, hope it looks fine now. Now i'll go the hard way and make some other base soldiers for other nations and factions from Forgotten Realms, them i'll expand them slowly but surely.

I'm a big fan of Bhoritz's style. Are you going to do a rear view as well? I'd love to see more of these FR NPCs; perhaps Purple Dragon mounted lancers, or Zhents, or Waterdeep city guards, or militia from Shadowdale. I've suggested doing Fantasy NPCs for the Feb. figure hoard. If that flies, maybe you could submit this Purple Dragon Knight. Coincidentally, I'm planning to run the "Four From Cormyr" adventure in the near future. I'm playing 4E rules in the 2E Forgotten Realms time-line. It's actually very easy to adapt 2E FR fluff to 4E crunch.

Also, i think that doing it vector style will make it faster and open the possibilities for true rear view. I'm thinking about expanding on Forgotten Realms minis when i'm good enought to make decent minis with Inkscape, so wait and see.

This is my first ugly preview. That's the REALLY BASIC outline of a barbarian from my Pathfinder game. I still need to adjust the arm and hands, but a cloak, put the hair, put the details and them color everything (those plain colors are only place holders)
