Hey Jim! Just wondering with Sanity Studios taking over, does that mean that your designs will not be free for very long? In other words, should we start mass downloading? onemonkeybeau

Any self respecting member of this forum should have downloaded everything already! Nothings going to happen instantly. We are going to work together so ownership changes, but all the files, website and such stay in place as is. Once everything has been transferred, then Nik from Sanity can let everyone know what his plan is. For myself, I'm going to get something designed for the current HOARD, and have fun with it. JIM

Wished I'd have just jumped on the original offer. Ugh. He's buying your assets right... he won't for some weird reason own the rights of the unique individual models self created and displayed and provided here by the forum members, right? (ie. Not the modifications of your work, but original content).

Hey Jim! Just wondering with Sanity Studios taking over, does that mean that your designs will not be free for very long? In other words, should we start mass downloading? onemonkeybeau That is a good question and I would also like to know the answer. I just hope they do as good a job as you did Jim. ;D But really, in all seriousness I never thought such an opportunity would have ever been possible. This community is great and so is the Onemonk brand. We love this hobby and hope to take it further (or at least maintain it . I would like to echo what Jim said in that we will take things slow. So the short answer to your question, nothing's changing at least for a little bit. We will let you know of any major changes as soon as we see them on the horizon. Nik Loveland Sanity Studios

Well, it sounds like you're resolved to take this step, and that you feel entirely good about it. That's good.
But I certainly hope you are getting more than $500 for your IP.
Cheers,

All the HOARD files and artworks are the respective properties of the designers. All I'm selling is the name, website domain and hosting, all of my original paper model designs commercial and free, and the master admin to the forum here. As far as I'm concerned nothing will change in the forum. I'll be using the forum on a regular basis to organize the HOARDS as usual, as well as participating in them. I'm actually liking the idea more and more of relaxing finally and just having some fun designing some figures each month for fun. Besides I just made squirmydad the top admin here in the forum and I'm sure he's already causing damage somewhere here. The forum assets, including all the hosting of the HOARD files and all the graphics here will be controlled by Nik. I'm very confident that the access to the files will not change. I'll be creating large down loadable chunks of all the HOARD files here in the forum as a backup. I think it will be fun and interesting for a change to see what someone else can do with my designs since I am tired of them. I don't worry too much over my IP, because I know in my mind that what I actually have done is only 1/1000 of what I can do. I'll be using the paper designs I make as springboards for practicing my figure sculpting. Think of this as a opportunity to free my mind to actually finish something again. JIM

The more I think about this the more I'm OK with this whole thing. Nik and Sanity Studios are more than capable of bringing and maintaining what we have created here... heck, he's been an active member for a while now and is a respected paper miniature designer in his own right. I don't think anything SUPER drastic is going to change... if anything, I think we'll be seeing more. And if Jim isn't bogged down with the pressure of running a site, and HAVING to finish models (which translates to drudgery...) we might even see more from him too I'm excited for this change and look forward to what lies in the future... Bring on the New Beginning! onemonkeybeau

Well, the sale is pretty much done. This is what I'll be doing now...
I will be staying here as admin, doing whatever it is I do here as always. I'll still be running the forum. I'll still be organizing the HOARDS each month, and I'll still be telling everyone how I'll be starting yet another project that won't get done as usual. So basically nothing will change in the forum for me.
Nik and I had a chance to talk and agreed that it would be cool if I continued to design figures. So Sanity Studios will be my official publisher from now on. This means I can design figures and they sell them, and handle all the crap I don't like to.
We have discussed a simple partnership where I can do the basic designs which I enjoy, and the art team at Sanity Studios finishes them. I know from looking at their finished colored designs that they will easily match the coloring and detail I put into my designs. I think this will be a great partnership, and I will be much more productive doing what I am best at. I will be expanding on my figure ranges, and I will be working with Nik to develop some new ranges that he has ideas for.
I have to stop using my blog. I can have no public and independent hobby outlet as part of my agreement at work. Don't worry I am getting compensated for this. This will allow me to be more active publicly supporting the Litko brand, and not be in conflict with my personal web activities.
All in all, this should be a big win for all of us. I can actually participate MORE here, and design stuff without the overhead pressure of the blog or website. I know Nik wants to create a new home for the forum, one that will allow hosting of files, a gallery and overall better features that these crappy proboards can provide. When he creates this new forum, I'll work to transfer as much of my stuff, and all the cool reference items from here to there, but it's not going to happen for several months at the soonest.
I know it doesn't seem like I asked enough for the assets ,but money was not my main interest. Getting my designs somewhere where they can be of most value in the long term was my goal, and I think I have found that with Sanity Studios.
I know Nik and Sanity Studios are still considered somewhat outsiders here. But I'll be doing my best to integrate them into the forum here so they can start informing us all what their plans are and you can direct your requests and questions to them.
Now, I need to whip out the tracing table and design me some zombie and ghoul soldier designs for this months HOARD. JIM

I just got off the phone with Jim and it sounds like this will be very good! Just like onemonkeybeau suggests, this should free up Jim to do more of the stuff he likes and we can do some other cool stuff with his older designs. It will just take some time. The forum is going to continue as is and also the website. We may have to do something for the main page though since Jim is planning on deleting his blog but I'm not quite sure what yet. Maybe we could start an 'ideas area' for what you hope to see (or not see change as well) in another thread. Nik

I'm all for it if it means you get to continue just being creative. And it will likely mean that more of your thousands of sketches will make it to the gaming table. That would be incredible.
